What has been the most rewarding extra curricular activity in which you've participated? Why did you like the activity? What did you learn? How do you think participation in this activity is going to impact your future?
The most rewarding extra curricular activity that I have participated in would have to football. I like it because it is a jolly good time. While playing, I learned that i can trust the people around me. Football will help me be able to take criticism and use it to help achieve my goals.
I would say the musicals. I've learned to trust myself and be confident. It also taught me how to be a good leader and to teach and help other kids. I leaned to stand strong and don't give in to people as well. I've also had some of my favorite momments durning that time. Whether it was just comments or things i did it was just a great time. I love every minute of it. I do plan on coninuing my acting in college or just a theater around the college i go to. Who know's what will happenebut i know its not something i wanna give up!
The most rewarding extracurricular for me has to be cross country/track. I started in sixth grade and I'm pretty sure that that's when I became addicted! Throughout my years of participation in xc/track I've learned a lot of things about myself. For me, running is a time to show myself that I can accomplish my goals. I've learned that it's easy to quit, but I've also learned that it takes a strong person to give everything that they have. I think that's what running has taught me most, to be strong. It's really hard to feel sorry for yourself and run at the same time. I've also learned about the importance of hydration and rest and eating healthy. My participation in running is going to impact my future in a very positive way! I'm lucky in that I am being recruited seriously by about a dozen colleges. I'm not saying this to sound conceited, I'm saying that I'm extremely blessed to have a talent that will help me pay for my futre education. And even after I'm done running in college, I know it's something I'll do for the rest of my life.

Sarah; I wouldn't say that you are bragging or being conceited at all! That is fantastic that you are being recruited and it's all because of the stength you've gained and the lessons you've learned through running. Congratulations!
The most rewarding Extra Curricular that i have been in is Pep Band. It is so much fun to play for the community at home and away games. We always get new music each year and play really catchy stuff. I know i'm going to miss it alot once I leave Colfax. The community members really enjoy the music to. It's allways rewarding to hear that our music is enjoyed when people compliment or dance to the tunes. I am so excited for this years pep band, because we have some really good tunes lined up for the season. We are there for the teams all the time and in whatever weather. I remember the time we played in the pouring rain and the bitter cold. That's what Pep Band is all about, playing in the snow and playing till our lips fall off. Even in those conditions it is so much fun!
My most rewarding extracurricular activity has definitely been dance. I tried out at the end of freshman year and even that was a big step for me. Dance has been so rewarding in terms of confidence, which I will benefit from in the future. I feel I have overcome a lot of the shyness I had all through elementary and middle school. Dance has also had some other great benefits too. I know I can speak for the whole team in saying how proud we were of ourselves after the season last year. We pulled together and became conference champs, and went to state where we placed sixth in poms. As a team I feel we are really close and I am very excited for the season this year!
Like Amanda, I too would have to say that the most rewarding extra curricular activity that I have participated in would be the musicals. I have been in several musicals before being part of the productions here at Colfax and each one brings something different to the table. One of the many things that I like about being part of a musical is that I can have a role that challenges me as I am pretending to me someone that is, for the most part, completely different from me.
Through acting in the musicals, I have had the opportunity to play characters that have traits that are very similar to me, as well as ones that don’t. I think that having played a mix of characters has widened my imagination quite a bit with how I can express how my character is feeling out there on the stage, including myself off of it. In addition, being in the musical has taught me patience. There is quite a bit of waiting around depending on how big/small of a role you have, especially when practice just seems to go on and on. Luckily, with waiting for a scene to be blocked and/or having those practices that never seem to end, a lot of terrific memories are made during all of the waiting.
Even after high school I plan on trying out for musicals and plays, both in college and in community theaters. There is no way I’d be able to make myself not be a part of something that I love to do. I’m not sure where being a part of drama will take me. But I am positive that I want to put my talents in acting to use and have fun with it!
I agree with Ben. Band has definitely been my most rewarding extra curricular. Its always fun to play new music, and the pep band music is always a blast to play. I have learned a lot about music since I started back in fifth grade. It has taught me that even no matter how frustrating something is, it can always be learned. Also without taking band, I doubt I would have gotten as interested in music as I have. The skills with all the intruments and the appreciation for music is something that will never leave me. I will miss band a lot after high school.
I enjoyed basketball when I was younger. It taught me how to focus on something I love and how to be a good leader. These traits will help me in my future of being in the medical field.
I would have to agree with Sierra! Dance would definitely have to be my most rewarding extra curricular activity. I have also gained more confidence in myself and overcame my shyness. It has been a great experience. I have met many great girls through dance! We have went to state the past two years I've been in it and last year we were Conference Champions! It was a very proud moment for me and I'm sure for the rest of the team. I think what makes dance so fun are the girls in it. We have absolutely no drama and we know how to be a team. Team effort and leadership are some important factors that will benefit me in the future. I am super pumped for this season! I know we will go far because we are a team. A solid team. :)
Hmm...well in school I really enjoy dance! Our dance coach is fantastic and has turned our team around! Dance has taught me to always have a smile on my face and have fun because you will get a higher score! :) Though I would have to say that modeling has made a huge impact on my life. I have met so many interesting and helpful people and it has really pointed me in the direction that I want to head. Cross country has also shaped my life. The hard work has caused my brain to go into competition mode and to never give up and let myself or team down. Cross country is also a nice escape from other things that I do in my life, it keeps me well rounded. Other than those things, photography has hugely impacted my life. The best thing that I have ever bought was my camera. If I hadn't have bought it that cold day in November, I probably never would have thought about applying into photography as my major or going to art schools. It is so crazy how the little decisions you make along the way can have the biggest impact on your life.
I think I would have to agree with Ben and Andrew. Pep band is the best! You get to play your favorite songs and learn ones you have never heard of before. Being in band is learning something maybe everyday. Pep band is probably the best part of band. We are there for almost all the games. We are there during sun or rain (or maybe even snow). We show our support for the school. I'm not exactly sure how it could affect my future, but you never know.
The most rewarding extracurricular activity would have to have been cross country/track for me also. You learn many life skills believe it or not in those two sports, along with almost every other one sport. I've learned leadership skills in both of them and they have shaped me in to a better person. Also I've learned determination, how to focus, and patience. Important things in life that will get me or some other person very far. I've also learned how to work with others and to just work hard. I can achieve anything I want to if I just put my mind to it. Any team sport is great for someone to experience but these two are really a couple of the greatest, in my mind.
The most rewarding extracurricular activity I have done is by far basketball. The amount of life lessons that I have learned in the past few years is way behond what I thought I would ever learn. I enjoy basketball because it teaches me that even if you do not like someone you still have to find a way to work together and to achieve the one main go everyone sets. Basketball has just helped me also with knowing that in life there will be ups and downs, but it is how you handle it that will really show what kind of person you are. Most importantly, I have become a more determined person since I've joined basketball and I do believe that will get me far in life.
My most rewarding extra curricular activity i have participated in is basketball! I have been playing basketball for a long time and I think it has developed me in a very good way. It has taught me to be a team player, to share, to be a leader, and to make good decisions. I think basketball has kept me out of trouble. Many teenagers are influenced by bad things; drugs and alcohal. Basketball has gotten me through that! Basketball is my life! I love playing it and i have an incredible passion for it! It's safe to say that i would be happy playing basketball or being basketball orientated for the rest of my life! I am being recruited by a couple schools which is amazing because I can get my school paid for, for playing the thing i enjoy the most! I think basketball has rewarded me in many ways, and I can't wait to see where it takes me further into the future!
My favorite extra curricular activity is dance. It's something I've done since I was 5, and Dance Team has been tons of fun. We have an amazing team, and hopefully we'll place at state this year! Dance has taught me to take criticism and use it to improve. It's exciting to see improvements in myself and others. I will hopefully continue to dance or coach as I get older, because dance has always been a part of my life.
Dance is my favorite activity. Personally, being in dance has improved myself. Stretching & exercising everyday keeps me healthy. Since dance requires memory skills (to remember every specific move for a whole song), it makes studying for school so easy. Another thing that dance has done for me is keep me involved. I am dedicated to the dance team, and it definitely has a positive influence on my life.
The most rewarding extra curricular activity would have to be basketball. Its taught me discipline and how to really push myself when my body burns and my mind is telling me to stop. It has also helped me respect the people around me including my teammates and coaches and officials. When I was in middle school and playing basketball I had the worst additude in the world! Ask any of the people I played with. I threw the ball on the ground during games when I got frustrated and threw huge fits because something didn't go my way and basketball was something that made me happy but I always seemed to get mad. It has helped that Mr. Meade is our coach in the way that he doesn't put up with that and that is something that a young adult does. I feel like basketball has helped me grow up and it is still a lot of fun.
