If you could fix one problem in the world, what problem would you fix and why? For example, I would get rid of apathy. If people weren't so apathetic, I think that all of the world's problems would go away. Think about it: everyone would care about what was going on around them and what was happening to others. Additionally, not only would people care, they would get involved and fix the problem instead of saying, "Oh, someone else will take care of that," or "That doesn't involve me," or "That's too big of an issue to tackle." There would be actual concern and actual problem-solving on the part of everyone. So, what social ill would you clear up if you could?

I would stop war! If there was no war we wouldn't spend so much money. I read an article out of news weekly a while back and it said we had way more weaponry then any other country. If we didn't have war we wouldn't have loved ones dying. What happened to talking things through? I think war influences a lot of bad behavior in every day life. Because people see our country is fighting they thing there is nothing wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteI would get rid of stupidity. Usually when people are stupid in any form it causes a lot of issues. I think all extremists are stupid, and they cause a whole mess of problems in the world. Honestly, if someone is stuck on their opinion enough to where they are going to kill people just to make a point, that is stupid. When I say stupidity, I am not really referring to someone who can't read well or isn't good at school. True stupidity to me is someone who knowingly chooses to do something that isn't right. Just because someone doesn't know something that someone else may know, doesn't make them stupid. A lot of people who aren't good at school a lot of times will have some other area in their life in which they are very talented or skilled. Nobody can possibly be good at everything. But I digress. In short, if people didn't act so moronic all the time, the world would be a lot better off.
ReplyDeleteIf I could, I would end world hunger. I realize that would take a lot, but really think about it. If everyone would help out in some way in supporting them, none would go hungry. Also, there are a lot of homeless people, and I don't really know think there is a way to prevent that besides having a job. I wish that both of those problems would be fixed so everyone could live a healthy life and not die from hunger.
ReplyDeleteI would make world peace. By ending war the world would be a moee peaceful place. Personally, I do not think war and violence solves anything. I would end all war not just wars involving the United States. I believe if we deserve peace so does all the other countries all over the world. It woudl not be that difficult to end war but a lot of countries would have a hard time doing it. Getting world peace would be worth it.
ReplyDeleteI would make the wars end. Every country would get along for the most part and we wouldn't use other people to try solve it by risking their lives. Everyone deserves to live in peace and do what they would like to do. Ending the war against each other would make everyone feel like they don't have competition and they live in a safe country.
ReplyDeleteI would stop domestic violence. It makes me so sad when I hear stories of stuff like that. It is just not necessary and people get hurt by it. It starts a chain of pain that follows families. I think anybody that abuses their kids needs to go to jail. I understand it is a fine line between punishment and abuse but you can tell if its to be mean or to correct a behavior. When kids are involved, irrisponsible adults absolutely drive me nuts.
ReplyDeleteIf I could solve one problem in this world, I would stop selfishness. I think that selfishness is one of the main reasons for all of the bad things that go on in our world. People are not willing to share. They are too judgmental and will not help others. I think this is because they are selfish, so if nobody was selfish then I think that there would be no wars, violence, world hunger, and all of the other bad things in this world.
ReplyDeleteI would stop greed. I think greed is a lot of the reason why so many people are going bankrupt and why others are homeless. Greed is a huge thing and I wish it would stop. Sure money can get us things we want but it never makes us truely happy. Money cannot buy true happiness. We spend and get something that we really want, but once we have it all we want is more.
ReplyDeleteI think that world wide understanding would be the one thing I would change. That is a broad statement, but all issues in the world can be linked to misunderstanding. Nearly all wars have been started by misunderstanding, resulting in jealousy that leads to hatred. If people could come to the point where they saw an issue that was beginning to occur, and they talked to the people, an understanding of both views could be formed. Then a problem that otherwise would be an ever growing conflict, could be reasonably settled. All issues, large or small could be solved, or at least lessened.
ReplyDeleteI would stop war and replace it with peace. War is an act of stupidity. Not to mention how pointless it is. It costs money and lives. Too much money and people's innocence, what do you really get out of war? I feel like the power of words is strong. World peace is where it needs to be.
ReplyDeleteI would get rid of world hunger. There are a lot of other problems in the world, but getting everybody fed is something fairly basic that we should deal with before everything else. No matter how great the surrounding society is, a person who is starving will not be able to enjoy those benefits. One who does not have access to food will make obtaining it their first priority. If we eliminate the need to make this a major focus, our energy, and that of the otherwise starving, may be devoted elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI think I would get rid of greed. I wish that every one could be happy and content. The stress that would be lifted from people's lives would be crazy! It would inturn cause a domino effect and nobody would feel the new to cheat, lie, steal, or murder ever again.
ReplyDeleteI would get rid of the male gender. I can't even begin to explain how much life would prospectively be without them. I'm guessing at least 99 percent better.. and that other 1 percent? Who cares.
ReplyDeleteWow, Jess, way harsh!
ReplyDeleteI would get rid of the emotion of jealousy. I think jealousy gets a lot of people into trouble whether it's in a long term relationship or just between your friends.I think we would be a lot better off if we never got jealous of anything and could keep civil between one another. I think jealousy doesn't benefit us in any way it can just make things turn ugly.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Mrs. Myers. I thought we were supposed to be truthful on this thing..
