Carpe Diem

Today we will read the Carpe Diem poets of the early 1700s. They felt that it was important to live each day as if it were your last. If you could do just one thing before you "go," what would it be? Would you climb Mt. Everest? Would you spend it with friends? Go to the movies? Nap?

I realize that this is a morbid subject for a Monday, but it is valid. We all need to realize that each day is precious and we're not gauranteed a long life. These poets realized this and wanted us to get the message that life should be celebrated daily. How are you going to celebrate today?

  1. I think that if I had just one thing I was able do before I die, I would spend a day doing everything I love. I would get up before dawn as to not waste any time. I would begin by going bow hunting for a couple hours. This would be a good time of reflection on my life. I would then have a piano concert to raise money for people in need. My afternoon would be spent with my family at a holiday dinner. Finaly, at seven, I would go play basketball. After the exciting game, which we would win, I would hang out with my friends. Then I would kck the bucket.

  2. I'd spend my day similar to Nathan's, doing everything I love with the people I love. If I were to die soon, I'd go snowmobiling all morning with my friends. In the afternoon I'd fly down to Arizona with my dad and watch the Brewers at Spring Training while we took a joy ride in his car. That night we'd fly back and spend the night with my whole family, together, reminiscing about our life together=)

Wow! I would spend time with people I love, like Nathan and Lucas. However, I might skip the snowboarding and hunting. I would love to go to Hawaii and see all the different color sands. Also, I would try to plan out evrything so my family wouldn't have to.

Sometimes, I don't do a very good job at living everday to the fullest. Sometimes I am just like "when is this day going to be over" which isn't good, but most of the time I think I am just a-smilin' and doing my best :)

  4. Wow Mrs. Myers that is very sad subject! Um, I would do as many crazy things as possible if it were my last day. I would go bungee jumping, and sky diving, and anything else that will give you an intense feeling of adrenaline. After doing all my dare devil stunts, I would most likely spend the rest of my time with the people I love and care about. (I don't plan on dying anytime soon though) =)

  5. I would get up and get my entire family and friends together and cook them a big breakfast or something. We'd all go to see the Lion King on Broadway. We'd go out to eat and talk. I think I'd probably just want to spend the day outside talking with everybody and petting my cats :) Maybe I'd go to Valleyfair or something. Wow Mrs. Myers, this is kinda hard.

Oh yea, I'd eat lots of food and drink smoothies all day too. Yea.

  6. I don't think that I would do anything wild on my last day. I would make sure everyone that I love knows how I feel. I would spend it with my family and closest friends. It's not about what you do, it's who you are with. I'd also make sure that I watched the sun rise and set.

And I'd probably drink smoothies with Amanda.

  7. I would travel the world with all of my friends and family and have a party at every place that we would stop at. There would not be anything that I could not see or do. On the last day, I would spent from sun up to sun down with my friends and family. We would spend the day outside shooting guns and bows. At night, we would roast hot dogs and marshmallows over a large campfire.

    Bye Bye Kevin!

  8. I would spend my last day with the people that I love. We would talk about all of the wonderful things that have occurred in my life. I would go and sit in the woods for a little while and imagine all of things that I could have accomplished through my life. I would want to celebrate with my family and friends to say my final words to them.
