Poetry!

Let's write a poem today. Your subject is: beginnings and endings. You may write free verse or be highly structured, rhyme or not, I don't care. I just want you to try to write a poem. Please make the poem at least 20 lines long (that's not very long at all, Mrs. Myers! You're too easy on us today. Tee hee hee!).

  1. Okay well I am going to attempt this blog, but I suck at writing poems so don't expect anything too great...

My beginning started on June 10, 1992
It was then that I was born anew.
My parents were filled with cheer,
When I had completed my first year.
Sometimes I could be a little brat,
I'd even pull on the tail of my own cat.
When I was five I started school,
Even though I'd have rather been at the pool.
I loved to run, laugh, and play,
    Throughout my whole school day.
Than I moved up to elementary school,
Oh man did I look like a fool.
After that was 6th, 7th, and 8th grade,
Wow did we think we had it made.
Next to come was the big ol' High School,
    Man were we ever cool.
High School has been the best years yet,
For all the people I have met.
It seems so sad to say so long,
But we will continue to be strong.
    Graduation is coming close,
Before you know it, it will be under your nose.

  2. Everything has a beginning,
    Everything has an end
    A road, a string, a relationship, a life.
    Beginnings are new,
    Endings are old,
    Only if they are lucky.
The beginning cannot go on forever
    And the end stops abruptly.
But between the beginning and the end,
There lies another more important part,
    The middle.
    This is the longest,
    This is the strongest,
This is the part that is never forgotten.
    We dwell on the beginning
    And on the end,
But we should really look in between.

  3. youthfull dreams ending

It seems we are wasting the prime of our lives,
    not even seeing our fortunes and gifts;
not even reflecting enough to realize
    opportunities for happiness and bliss.

We imagine the fortunes and wonders ahead,
    and fantasize how great life will soon be;
we focus on life's chapters unread,
rather that enjoy what we presently see.

    Our youth passes by
    like a waxing moon gains.
    We then finally realize
    that our youthfulness wanes.

    Our wishes, our hopes, our dreams we possessed;
Fantasies we had, we now ignore.
The thought is unending and bids us depressed,
Youth gives way and we become forlorn.

    It really is sad how hopes and dreams die;
"If only we lived for a hundred more years."
If only we lived, instead to ourselves lie,
We would avoid all the sadness and tears.

  4. They say that nothing lasts forever,
Some days I think that's true,
But when I stop to think more deeply,
My mind always stops on you.

    Best friends from the beginning,
You captured all of my heart,
    But this year something happened,
    And we slowly grew apart.

    At first I was bitter,
    I didn't understand,
How could you just walk away
when I was holding out my hand?

    Even though we are over,
And new friends we must now find,
All of the good times we had together,
Are things that I'll never leave behind.

You and I will last forever,
I know that this is true,
Even if it's only in my memory,
I will always be there for you.

  5. I love lamp,
I will run off a ramp,
    I try to camp,
but sometimes I get a cramp,

    the days I want food,
I am in a good mood,
I try not to get glued,
    or else I look snood,

    I like hay,
you can play with it every day,
    maybe lay by the bay,
    what do you say,

    I am lean,
    and also mean,
    I act like a machine,
    even if I'm green,

    Sometimes I lose,
    i dont drink booze,
    alll alll lla ooose
    you are all ffooze.

  6. okay so I know it is about beginnings and endings, but I am going to do firsts and Lasts, which is kinda the same thing.

    Frist and Lasts:
You always here, "That was the first time..."

    The first time you walked
    The first time you talked
The first time you slept in a "big-kid" bed
The first time you said goodbye to your imaginary friend

The first day you went for a hike
The first day you road a bike
The first day you sat in front
The first day you got to hunt

But do you ever wonder, "What about my lasts"

The last time you slept in a crib
The last time you used a bib
The last time you saw a friend
The last time you made amends

The last day in middle school
The last day in high school :(
    The last day at home
The first day on your own

All of these are memories, but we must remember that while lasts (ends) are sad..that means a first(beginning) is not far behind

  7. Life is but a story,
    Filled with chapters in between,
    Each struggle, a lesson,
Each victory, a testament to share.

    How we live?
    That is up to us,
    A good attitude,
    Not one can take away.

    Not where we began,
    Nor where we struggled,
    but where we ended,
    Tis what matters most.

    Not just striving,
    but thriving,
    through our daily lives,
Joyous we should be here on earth.

    And so goes life,
    Filled with experiences in between,
    Every beginning has an end,
And every end, a new beginning.
