Friday!

Check in blog: how are things going on your papers? What questions/problems are you having? How is the reading going for The Catcher in the Rye? Anyone with any exciting plans for the weekend? Discuss!

  1. I have a few questions on the paper, like the outline and how many notecards, etc., but I'll ask you today in class. I would also like to discuss the book Tom and I are reading with you because I am extremely lost in it.

The season begins this weekend! I start working at the Tree Farm. I'm a little excited, I suppose.:) That's all I'll be doing this weekend and the next and the next.. I'm sure I'll fit in some other fun stuff though:) Hopefully the weather shapes up and stops raining or I won't be working at all.

  2. I think the paper is going okay. I am doing mine on the black plague. Writting stuff on notecards is easy and paraphrasing it is pretty simple too. The thing I have trouble with is filling in between the notecard information on my paper. I never know what to write and so I usually get stuck trying to meet the page requirements.
I really like the book The Catcher in the Rye. I enjoy the way the author narrates through Holdens thoughts.
This weekend I am going to try to get as much homework done on Saturday so that I don't have to worry about it on Sunday.

  3. The paper is going pretty well but the hardest thing for me to do is to just really decide what it is that I am going to do. I think I am going to do the stages of the witch trial. I really just need to get into it and really get things done. The hardest part about a research paper is just starting it and getting ideas down. I am enjoying Catcher in the Rye because it is such an easy read :)

  4. I have literally no time to do the stuff for Monday (outline & notecards) and the book review Wednesday. Tonight I work late, tomorrow I work 8:30am-10:30pm, and Sunday my sister is coming from Iowa just to see me. I never see her anymore and I really miss her.

So you could say I'm stressed.

I have questions ready for you in class. Basically all the weird info at the beginning of the book review. I've never done that before and I'm confused where to find the info or if I am supposed to make it up from my opinion.

Oh and I don't know what we're supposed to read or when we're supposed to read it, for the Catcher in the Rye.

  5. TGIF!

The entire research paper process is going swimmingly for me. I don’t have many questions for you about it, but I do have one that I thought about last night. I think I know the answer to my question, but I’m just not 100% sure. I’ll ask you about it when we get in the library later today.

The Catcher in the Rye is going well too. I have been reading ahead over the past week, and I just love where the story is going. It is easy to read and comprehend, and I find it easy to relate to some of the things that Holden is going through. I probably won’t be able to read any more of it this weekend as I’ll be busy doing my research paper, book review, and performance assessment for Modern American History (I’ve been procrastinating on that big time). Hopefully I’ll accomplish a lot this weekend.

  6. Well the papers are coming along. Today and Sunday are designated to homework. I have to finish reading my book and write a book review on it. Though the book review is due Wednesday I'd like to get it over with this weekend, so I won't have to worry about it anymore. Oh and by the way I like the book I am reading: Like Water for Chocolate. It is very interesting.

The Catcher and the Rye is going pretty good. I also have to finish reading those chapters for this week. Oh I have a little bit of bad news, so I had a banana in my school bag and it got squished, so theres a bit of banana juice on the pages. If it is too bad, I can always pay you for it! I'm sorry, dumb idea putting a banana in my school bag! Although the book bothers me at times, it is still pretty easy to read and understand, so I like that about it.

Friday is stay at home with my mom and Corey Yolitz day. Plus homework night. Then saturday I am making better than sex cake with Brianne and Noah!! I am so excited about that! Later on Saturday I am hanging out with Ty! I think we are going to see a movie with his little sister and her boyfriend. Sunday is another homework day! I'm hoping I will get all of my work finished! :)

  7. UGHHHHHHHH! Too much stuff to do and not a lot of time!!!!!!!

I'm going to be swamped ALL weekend doing homework and trying to read, plus working nine to five on saturday and sunday. I'm hoping to get my book review and the stuff due for Monday done asap so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I'll probably end up reading Catcher on my breaks at work. (Ahh, a nice break from work.)

After I get out of school today, my grandma and I are going to eat. We're throwing my dad a surprise 40th birthday party in November, so we want to make sure the food at the place we're having it at is good. (:

I think if I ask you any questions, you'll end up on the floor in the fetal position and crying, so I'll try to limit my questions and throw out the dumb ones. (I know, I know... There are no dumb questions, right?)

  8. Yeah so my paper is going about as well as a research paper can go. I do not like research papers so if you can't tell its going horribly. Catcher and the Rye is still not very entertaining to me, but I must say that it is getting a tad bit more enjoyable. Some of the things Holden says/does makes me laugh a little but the dialoge still bothers me when I am reading.

This weekend was supposed to be fun but because my brother has to work I am no longer going to Jellystone. It sucks cause this weekend will probably be the last time I see most of the people there. Other than that I'm just going to watch some college football on Saturday and on Sunday Hannah is coming over, so nothing too exciting.

  9. I'm not sure how my paper is going exactly. I will have to work on it this weekend along with my book review. No big plans except for homework and watching the Minnesota Vikings lose. I might read a little of the Catcher in the Rye but instead I might start on my next book for the book review. I thought about going to the game tonight but then I don't really have anyone to go with.

  10. Well, the research paper is going very well! It's the third one I've done so far this year, so I feel like I know what to do pretty well. The most stressful thing for me is citing my sources because i'm super scared that I will plagerize. The Catcher in the Rye is going good. I've read it before, but it's nice to read it again. My favorite part of the book so far is his fight with Stradlater. I really like this book so I'm glad we're reading it.

This weekend we have a cross country meet at the U of M! It's terribly exciting and it's a hguge meet, with high school teams from five states. There are college races earlier in the day, so the whole meet lasts from nine until after five. Sunday I'm going to Plum city, so it should be a pretty nice weekend :)

  11. The Catcher and the Rye is a very weird book. It has something about it that makes it worth reading, but it really kind of bugs me. The main character complains so much and he talks about what he doesn't like way too much.
My paper is coming along, but it seems like alot of information to find. I have plenty of information I just don't know what to do with it all. I hope I am able to get organized enough to create a smooth flowing paper.
I can't wait for this weekend! I have been waiting all week for it to come. We are going to Octoberfest even though it's September. It's so much fun to sleep in the motorhome downtown where the parade is going to be held the night before. Ryan is coming with this year so it's going to be really fun. We are going to stay up all night running around town. Then the next day we are going to watch the parade and visit my grandparents. I can't wait!

  12. So far the paper is going good. I just hope it doesn't get too stressful later. But nothing to complain about so far.

The Catcher and the Rye is a weird book. It is really nice how its written so its easy to read, but the main character bugs me. Hes just annoying. But it is interesting, but hopefully it gets better than it is right now.

This weekend should be fun, but tiring. I work till six tonight then am going to Menomonie for the homecoming football game. Then I'm going to go hang out with friends after that. Saturday morning I work from 7:30 till noon. After that I'm going to Eau Claire till three because my dad has a work party at action city. Then its back off to Menomonie for their homecoming dance. Sunday will hopefully be a good relaxing day to catch up on all the sleep I will miss the rest of the weekend. Should be fun!

  13. The research paper is going pretty well. I'm doing the one about the black plague, so there's plenty of information out there. Catcher in the Rye is a pretty easy read, so I'm not having much trouble with that either. Mostly this weekend is a "try to finish as much homework as possible" weekend. And it's my grandma's 70th birthday, so I get out of my five-hour dance class on sunday.

  14. I think this paper is going not to bad. I feel like I have a lot to do in little time, but I took the class to learn how to make it through school like this. I wish the book report and the first draft were not due on the same day because I don't know how I am going to do them. I hope I can get all my homework done with playing basketball this weekend.

  15. I do not like writing this paper! It is probably becuase i just don't like writing in general. I would have to say though that I am getting the notecards and outline done pretty easily. The thing with my outline though is that i'm not too sure on what to put for subjects i'll be talking about throughout the paper. I'll figure it out though.

The book review is a little confusing for me too. I'm not exactly sure on what i'm suppose to be writing in it. I'll have some questions for you in class.

Otherwise, my weekend was ok. I had a cross country meet at U of M on saturday, which was a lot of fun! Then went over to Justin's and watched Fat Albert. I like that movie. :) Sunday is my homework day. I don't like Sundays as homework days one bit.
