One of my first blogs to you asked you what you are reading for your book review. Since I am technologically impaired, you weren't able to respond to that blog. Therefore, I'm going to ask you again: what are you reading for your book review?
I currently am reading The White Queen by Phillipa Gregory. The setting is the time period of England's civil war (The War of the Roses). I have to say that I'm really not getting into the book that much, and I'm disappointed about that. I loved The Other Boleyn Girl, and was excited to read The White Queen as it follows that same type of historical fiction genre as Boleyn. One reason I think for my not enjoying it so much is that I'm trying to do too many activities right now: grade essays, write tests, plan for your activity day, meet friends for dinner, plan my family Christmas party, and pack for Florida. Hmmm...maybe I'm just too distracted right now. Anyway, once I'm done reading Queen, I'm going to pick up Unwound by Neil Schustermann. Ms. Long recommended it and my book group has decided to read it for our next meeting.
Gotta run (literally!) Post away!

Helloooooooo Mrs. Myers - (Mrs. Doubtfire) ;)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you need to slow down a little in life and take time to smell to roses... or in Wisconsin's case, the snow blanketed snowmobile trails!
I just finished reading Sphere ny Michael Crighton. Sphere was a very good book. It had a more futuristic genre to it because of the technology that was being used. Sphere was about a large, metallic sphere (coincidence, I think not) that brought mind controlling powers to whoever came in contact with it. The sphere arrived on earth by a time - traveling ship that was said to be over 300 years and now bury deep in the Pacific Ocean.
A team of investigators goes down into the Pacific and tries to explain it's extence on earth. Instead, they are tormented and killed by thought-manifested beings and creatures larger than skyscrapers.
i really enjoyed Sphere's adventurous style of writing and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for that.
Peace out
Hello...I am currently reading The Other Bolyn Girl (italized) by Phillipa Gregory. I am really enjoying it so far. It is a good read and sometimes it feels like I can't put it down, but then when I do I realize I still have a long way to go because it is a descent sized book.

Oops, I forgot to ask my question.
ReplyDeleteWhen Iago says,
"He take her by the palm:ay,well said, whisper. With as little web as this will I ensane as great
A fly as Cassio."
What is he saying?
I still have to pick a book for my next book review! I kind of want to read Wicked. But I'm reading anther book right now called Population: 485 by Michael Perry. It's pretty good. It's set in New Auburn, Wisconsin, and it mentions Chetek and Bloomer and Eau Claire. The guy is a volunteer firefighter. Too bad the book isn't on the book list.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have a comment to make. I said earlier that we could relate to Othello. I'm starting to disagree, because today in class we read about lots of drinking alcohol and doing the nasty :)
TTYL peeps
I once again missed class today, so I was wondering what happens after Cassio gets excommunicated from his position in Othello's army. Also, I think that we should definately do that paper instead of the test after Christmas. Porque, yo no me gusta la libro de Othello. Es muy dificil y aburido.
ReplyDeleteWho is Big Papa?
ReplyDeleteYes, Who is Big Papa?
ReplyDeletepsp. Nice Amanda :) you are so goofy :)
Nathan;
ReplyDeleteCome see me and we'll discuss Othello...and I *know* how much you love discussing/reading Shakespeare. ;-)
Right now I'm reading The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy. I'm not really sure what it's about becuase I'm only on page 20 of 650, but I've liked all 20 pages that I've read! I would really like to read it for my book review, please? :) I know that it's not on the book list, but Rachael said that you looked at it and let her read it. I can bring it in again if you want me to!
ReplyDeleteOh, and my comment about Othello is that so far I like it more than Macbeth. I think Macbeth was kind of predictable. But I don't know how Othello will end, and I think that makes it more exciting to read.
