My tickets for Bon Jovi arrived in yesterday's mail and that got me thinking about concerts. What is the best concert/play that you've gone to and what is the worst? What made it the best/worst?
My best would be an Elton John concert about five years ago. I was in row EIGHT! :-) He played for 2 1/2 hours and didn't spend a lot of time chit-chatting, just played. It was amazing!
My worst: Merle Haggard. He was so drunk that he couldn't even sing his songs because he couldn't remember the words. He spent most of his time asking the pretty young things in the front row if he could have a drink of their beer. Obnoxious!
My best and worst play, coincidentally enough, was Romeo and Juliet. The best was a musical/dance version. I cried and cried at the end - like I didn't know it was going to end that way. Duh! The worst was the Park Square Theater trip with students that Mrs. Gibson and I took a few years ago. The play is called ROMEO and Juliet, people, not MERCUTIO and Juliet. Oh, and Juliet, here's a tip - SLOW DOWN when you speak so that people can understand what you're saying! Whew! I feel better now ;-)

I have only been to a concert once in my whole life, which was RockFest. I went with Kody's family last year. It was alright because most of those bands were 90s bands. I really loved Korn and Judas Priest. I would have liked Journey, but they went after Judas Priest, so they were pretty much nothing. Sheryl Crow was there as well and I do not consider her to be a rock band. Overall it was a great experience and I am going back this year. Alice in Chains, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool, Three Doors Down, and Limp Bizkit are all going to be there.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a real play. I went with Girl Scouts back in 4th grade, I think it was. The play was called Quack or Duck or something like that. It was at the Childrens Theater in Eau Claire. All I remember is that there were a lot of duck or chickens on the stage.
I am excited to go to the Shakespeare play in May. Then I can actually say that I have been to a real play.
My best concert that I have seen was Gary Allen. It was pretty much awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy worst concert was one that my parents made my brother and I attend by force.
I have not seen much for plays, but I did see Beauty and the Beast on ice. That was pretty cool I guess. I don not think that I have seen a bad play.
The best play I have ever went to was at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. I went to 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. I went with a big group from Chippewa including my grandma and my mom. It was a very good show and I got good seats to enjoy the show without having anyone in my way. The worst play that I have ever went to was probably some play at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre that was about Easter. I believe it was called Easter Parade. I did not like that play at all. It didn't seem to have a point to it or a good story line.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ashley. I am super excited to finally get to go to a Shakespeare play. It is going to be a blast!! =)
I have never been to a concert before, except school stuff, but I have been to lots of plays/musicals. The best play I ever saw was in London. I went to Wicked with my dad, and it was so amazing, and probably the highlight of my trip. :) We also went to see Lion King in London which was really cool too(the costumes were amazing).
ReplyDeleteI have also seen Hairspray, South Pacific, Oklahoma, Bye Bye Birdie, Annie Get Your Gun, Cinderella, High School Musical, Once Upon A Matress, Beauty and the Beast, Susical the Musical, and Footloose, I have been to a few at Chanhassen, but I can't remember their names.
I would really like to see 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, I have the movie, but they are always better live.

When we were younger, the Teens For Christ went to Convo, a yearly "spiritual" retreat. I went for three years in a row and saw three separate concerts. One was my favorite concert ever. It was a christian band called Unsearchable Riches. It was probably the best composed music I've ever heard. The next year, the band was called The Turning. They were awful. Almost all thier songs sounded disinent and I couldn't understand a word they were saying. It was pathetic.
ReplyDeleteI can't really tell you about the best play I've been at because the only one I've ever seen other than those of school was "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" at Chanhasen, Minnesota.
Brad Paisley was by far my best concert i've been to! He is so good live! Ive been to others at the milwakee state fair, but they werent that great and i don't remember who they were.
ReplyDeleteTHe best play would have to be Les Miserables. It was preformed in spring valley and it was AMAZING!!!
I have been to a lot of concerts and I think that my favorite one was going to see Rascal Flats. It was fun because I was with all of my friends, and it is one of those bands where you know all the songs! One of the worst ones I have been to was 38 special, because I really had no idea who they were and I only knew one of their songs. It was kind of boring.
ReplyDeleteI have not been to very many plays at all, so I can not say which one is my favorite.
