"Give about two hours, every day, to exercise; for health must not be sacrificed to learning. A strong body makes the mind strong." Thomas Jefferson.
What role, if any does exercise, play in your day? Would you exercise if you weren't in sports? What exercises do you hate? (I hate the inch worm and the crab crawl myself) Which ones are your favorites?

I love exercising but I've been in a lot of sport so once a season is over I get really lazy. My favorite thing to do is run and lift weights in a fitness center. I hate lifting free weights. Pretty sooon I'm going to start a yoga class which should be a nice chill exercise.
ReplyDeleteThat quote is as true as anyhtin I've heard. Exercise really does play a key role in the health of the brain. I did a research paper on it.
ReplyDeleteEven though I am done with basketball, I still enjoy working out. My absolut favorite form of exercise, however, was basketball practice and games. During basketball, I didn't even realize I was exercising because I was so focussed on the ball, or playing defense, or shooting. It's now that I work out that I realize that I'm in great shape. Some workouts that I enjoy more and more are free weight lifting, such as squating, benching, and the clean. I feel like I really make gains in strenght and athleticism when I lift. After my lifting workout, I enjoy doing a few speed and conditioning drills, such as running stairs, doing sprints, or jumping rope.
I used to love all forms of exercise, but after cross country last year I realized that long running isn't my favorite thing to do. I like running, but running long distances competatively is absolute hell. It takes extreme mental endurance on the border line of craziness. Thats probably why long runners are usually a little weird. Take the two conference champs from cross country. Sarah is one of the weirdest peopel I know and Brett Johnson from SCC is so high strung and weird (and ADD) that he can hardly control himself, and he would love that I said that. Runners are different mentally, and I'm not one of those people.
I like to exercise. In the summer I run but when it gets cold outside, I tend to get kind of lazy. This winter, Amanda and I biked and lifted weights a couple of times a week to get a jump on the track season. I like to lift weights and running is not too bad. The only sport that I am in is track and it is really fun.
ReplyDeleteI think that exercise is an improtant part of life. Everyone should keep their bodies healthy by keeping it strong.
All of the sports that I play, require different forms of exercise.Football takes mental physical and physical strenth. Basketball takes a lot of conditioning to get the legs in shape. Baseball takes a lot of progressive arm strength. If I was not in sports, I would lift weights once in a while and also find some time to go jogging. I do not like jogging, it is boring. I hate leg exercises.
ReplyDeleteI love being active whether it might be playing a sport, lifting things that heavy (my favorite!), or simply out walking in the woods. Playing a game of one on one in basketball and then lifting weights is how I get down. That way you are dead tired by the time you life and then you get better results (I can't vouch for that theory, but I'm still feeding the pythons!). In the summer, I want to have a job that is physically laborous so I can get jacked and tan at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI love exercising! Dance has been year-round for me because I'm in studio dance, so it's the main type of exercise that I do. In the summer I take dance classes so I can be ready to go in the fall. Other than dance, I love to bike, run, walk, hike, canoe, swim, anything! In the summertime I love going to the red cedar trail to walk, bike, or run. This summer I want to take a biking trip on the red cedar trails because it goes pretty far up north. I think that would be a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI love running! Track is my favorite sport. I love all the adrenaline before a race, and most of the time I like practice, too. Sometimes practice is really hard and makes me feel completely exhausted when I do it, but after I'm done it makes me feel good, like I accomplished something :). Lifting weights in the weight room with Rachael is pretty fun, because it makes me feel BUFF!
ReplyDeleteI hate the lifts in the fitness center called Jerks. They are horrible.
With anything, it's cool to look back and see how much progress you have made and how much you have benefited your health and your body.
"Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness."
~Edward Stanley
Before, the only time that I exercised was at sports practices or when I was just having fun (like swimming or something), but since my surgery, I realized that I have to exercise a lot more. Since Decemeber I've been exercising every day after English. It's become such a part of my routine that I get upset when I miss my work out. My favorite exercise is running, but since I wasn't allowed to do that until a week ago, I've gotten used to doing other things. I'm going to continue exercising a lot, even when track is done. My least favorite exercise is running 400s. Haha. My favortie is running at track meets because it doesn't feel like exercise, it just feels fun!
