Writing

"For me, writing is foremost a mode of thinking and, when it works well, an act of discovery." -Joseph Epstein

What are you discovering as you're writing your research papers? What struggles are you having? Basically, I'm asking you to discuss what you're doing and how it's going.

  1. Well the more i get into my paper the easier it is getting. I am worrieb about citing my sources in my actual paper though, because that seems really confusing. Other wise i have changed my topic three times and now i am finding lots of information on the Bluestockings, and it is actually quite interesting. THe Bluestockings are a group of women, but the interesting thing a man was actually the first Bluestocking!!!

  2. I am finding it is so much easier to free write, or to tell a story or make up a story. I really have to read alot about the person or subject before I even write an outline so I know what I'm talking about. I can't just talk about what I want to talk about, I have to find out what is out there, and that's hard. But I'm excited that I'm really starting to understand APA!!! I don't even have to look at the paper for online sourses anymore! Big accomplishment. But I guess it is going pretty good, I'm finding alot of information.

  3. I am doing the first one and I have all of my information for the Glorious Revolution. Now that I am looking information on the other revolutions, I am having difficulties on what I should have for those revolutions. Otherwise, I am doing alright. Does the outline have to be very in depth or can it just be little phrases? I am stressing out about it a little because I always get stuck on the order I should put it into my paper.:)

  4. As I write my research paper, I'm pretty much discovering that Sir Isaac Newton was even more of a genius than I thought. I can't imagine doing the math that I do right now without a calculator, much lest inventing the math I do right now without a calculator. Can anyone who's in Calculus imagine how somebody would discover the link between antiderivatives and integrals without technology. Newton was a pretty smart guy.

My biggest problem with this research paper is that I spend to much time reading than writing. Since I'm somewhat interested in math, a couple of times I just found myself reading about Sir Isaac Newton and not even touching the keypad to type my paper. And now I don't know where all the stuff I read is from. Other than that, its going good.

  5. I think this paper is going okay. I feel like I still have a lot more things to find before I start writing. I am writing my paper on King Charles 1. He was executed because people thought he was a horrible ruler. I haven't quite figured out if I think he was or not!
Oh well. I'll get it figured out sooner or later.

  6. At first I was totally dreading doing any of this research paper and I regret putting most of it off untill this week. But when Sunday came around and the past two days, I acctually found it not to be that bad and have enjoyed the topic that I picked. The only thing I have having a problem with is citing my sources. But I will figure it out!
