I'm so excited! I've been bidding on Kindles on eBay since Christmas and I never win - basically because I'm not going to pay the same on eBay as I would if I purchased one directly from Amazon. Anyway, I won a Kindle last night! :-) My dream/goal of reading five books a week this summer is one step closer to reality. Yeah, I live life in the fast lane.
Your journal prompt: have you ever waited for an item (car, Kindle, bike, computer, what-have-you) that you really wanted? If so, what was that item? Was it worth the wait? Tell me the story...

My driver's license!!! Once my sister got hers and I saw how much more freedom she had, I oouldn't wait to get mine. I was super excited to be able to drive myself to my friends' houses, to school, and to any other place I wanted to go. I hated it when I couldn't do something because my parents were busy and I couldn't get a ride, and I knew that a driver's license would solve this! It was definitely worth the wait. I love being able to drive myself, and I love driving. If my friends and I are going somewhere, I like to be the one to drive us because I really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteOf course, once I waited for my driver's license, I had to wait for a car...
Um well I know I have waited for something that my dad has bid on before. In fact it was very recent. My dad bid on a jet-ski on eBay recently and I was super excited, but when he bid on it there was 2 days left for bidding. My dad kept getting overbid on the jet-ski and I was starting to get really disappointed because my dad was only going to bid a certain amount on it. I was over at Emma's house and I called my dad just for a kick to see if we got the jet-ski. He wouldn't tell me and than over the phone he started laughing. As soon as he laughed I knew we got the jet-ski and I was super excited! It was definately worth my wait and I am super excited to go jet-skiing this summer up north at my grandma and grandpa's house!! The end. =)
ReplyDeleteWell, I've never felt impatient waiting for an item, but I have waited a long time to do certain things, like hunt or drive. Bow hunting was really the biggest thing I've been excited for, but have had to wait. This was because last year was my first full year of bow hunting. I had bought a bow from a family friend the year befor, but hunting was nearly over. Therefore, I had to wait almost a full year to get out and use my precious new (old, actually) bow. I spent a lot of time in the woods preparing myself for my big debut hunting season. I planted food plots and cleared out shooting lanes by the stand which Casey Peterson suggested I place in a certain specified location. Then, on opening day of bow season, I was raring to go, so I put on my camo and walked out to my stand. It was awful! It was seventy-five degrees and I almost died in all those clothes. The mosquitos were awful too.
ReplyDeleteI had to wait yet another couple weeks for a good freeze and cool down.
I had to wait for my own car. Like i got to drive my older brothers around, but i really just wanted to have a car i could call my own. I got my drivers license the day after my bday and i got two substitute cars while i was waiting to buy my own. THen in december of 2009 i bought my first car! I was so excited because it was really nice. But then in the end my parents ended up talkin me into selling it to them. In the end i took my moms intrepid and she got my super nice car.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little my dad and brother went to the Iola car show. I had been wanting a mini bike all summer and asked them to buy one if they could. They brought home a mini bike for the family. It was a blast! Every day I drove it until it ran out of gas. However, I soon grew tired of the minibike and wanted a dirtbike.
ReplyDeleteOnce I got older I worked my way into a dirtbike. After countless weeks of searching the tradin post, I finally found a Yamaha TTR 125 in Loyal. Just like the minibike, I loved it. I took if everywhere; to friends houses, my neighbors, and around the house. However, like the minibike, the dirtbike's glamour too wore off. I decided to sell the bike my junior year of high school, four years after we had bought it.
I was ready to upgrade into a motorcycle. I had taken a safety course the summer before and just had to find the right bike. I found a good deal on one in Eau Claire. After test driving it, I was satisfied and brought it home.
Each bike has it's story. Waiting to buy each one seemed to make them that much more enjoyable. However, like any material item, each bike's glamour soon wore off. I still enjoyed riding them, but learned the valuable lesson that stuff will never make you happy. Its okay to have hobbies and toys, however, never let them control you.
I had to wait FOREVER to get my own room. I'm not even kidding - I shared a room with Brittany up unitl very recently. We didn't really have the time to finish the basement since there was always farming things to do all year round, from planting & harvesting crops to feeding the cows and bottle-feeding calves. Eventually (thankfully) my parents decided that they should hop to it so I could have some freedom before I graduated :) So now I have my own room, and it is fantastic. I'm definately making the most of it before I have to tear it up and bring all its contents to River Falls!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a Freshman in high school I ordered my prom dress off of the internet. It was a cute purple longsleeved plain dress. I was so excited after I ordered it. I couldn't wait till it came in the mail to try it on. I checked the mail everyday until it came. Once I had it the first thing I did was try it on and luckily it fit just right. It was definetly worth the wait.
