Today's blog is on technology. Love it or hate it, it's obviously here to stay and going to change our world. What do you like best about all our current technology? What frustrates you? What dangers, if any, do you foresee with technology and our reliance upon it? Discuss!
Technology is great for us to be able to do things like this (blogging) for school. It's a unique way to get everyone interested in something. Flashdrives are my favorite by far!! However, I am not computer saavy or saavy with any other technology. If I need help with anything, at least I have Elizabeth. I think our society relies too much on technology in terms of communication, or homework. For instance, my older sister Andrea's computer just crashed; the day before she had to turn in all of her projects for the end of the semester, and it wiped everything off. There's nothing she could do to prevent that besides saving onto another device that may or may not work. There are other things that may go wrong, but I don't think there's always a way to prevent them from happening until we experience those problems and learn how to fix them.
ReplyDeletewell technology is a good thing because it gives us our world. everything uses technology these days and it would be weird to go back to not having it. the best thing is the internet. we can do anything on here. it can be creepy because there are plenty of stalkers out there. but if we use the internet safe, then there should be no problem. like what kayla said flashdrives are a life saver because you can start a paper on one computer and jump to another to finish it.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy technology that has to do with my needs. Like the internet for example, I can look up anything that I want to and I can learn a lot from it. My cell phone is another example. If I would not have had my cell phone with me last year, I would have had to crawl a quarter of a mile home because my back tweeked while I was hunting and I could not even walk. If I can use technology to my own standards, everything will be OK to me!
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, technology is designed to make our lives easier. No doubt, technology today has done a great job at this. We have cell phones, GPS's, and video games in our personal lives. Medically, we have artifical limbs and organs. Our transportation has made it possible to travel around the world with ease. However, even after all this technology and innovation, are our lives better? Some times I think people are becoming more self-centered, and oblivious to those around them. Technology makes it easy for people to forget about others. My only wish is people will use technology, but not forget what's more important--the life around it.
ReplyDeleteI love technology. It is very benfical and is very enteratining. However, I can see where it can be negative as well. Many people can develop an unhealthy attachment to things such as the interent and texting. These things as useful as they are need to be used in moderation as well.
ReplyDeleteI think people will forget how to communicate because technology makes it so easy to "talk" to people without even talking to them. I love how fast it is and how much easier it has made our lives, but people functioned just fine without all of this technology before. I guess it doesn't bother me because this is how I grew up and its the normal for me.

I think that technology is pretty cool. There are so many things that it can do. I know that it is hard for older people to catch onto technology, so i know that it can be frustrating to people. Technology can be very good because it saves time and makes things easier. It also can be fun. Technology can be bad because it can be used for war and other things that can hurt peopel. Also, there are some people that rely way to much on technology. They wouldn't know now to live without it.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like best about technology is that it is very useful and helps us to learn about a lot of things and research many different topics for papers. I don't know how we could do half the things we do now if it weren't for technology. It gives us many abilities that we never used to have. The things that frustrates me most about our technology is most of the time it has some sort of glitch or you have to get it fixed or it just doesn't work when you need it to. Take for instance our author projects. The computer wouldn't let the USB plug put the information on the computer which was very frustrating. The only fear I have is that technology will become so powerful that it will continue to get rid of more jobs and make it so less people have a place to work and get money.

I don't liek when people are addicted to their cell phones, and I don't like when computers are slow or don't work.

Technology has obviously revolutionized the way we as humans do things and it will continueing to revolutionized our culture as long as the demand for newer and greater objectives are out there. I personally could do without technology as far as world wide web and social networking, but since they are around to make things easier, I use them. Nothing that technology can do today could take away what we already know how to do. All I'm saying is that as people become more dependent on technology, they loose an age of do-it-yourself'ers and I wish that it wouldn't come down to that.
ReplyDeleteDanielle's post pretty much sums up what I was going to write. Technology can be a really great thing when it is used correctly. I love my cellphone, i-pod, and my laptop. I will admit that they are kind of addicting but they are very useful!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to imagine a world without any sort of technology. On the other hand, it's also hard to imagine how our technology could advance any more - it already seems so advanced! But one thing that worries me is that people become too dependent on their gadgets and then they get lazy. What's the point in going outside and hitting up the tennis court when you can be standing inside pretending to play tennis on the Wii? All you do is swing your arm around for gosh sakes! Get up and go for a jog!! :)
ReplyDeleteOr as another example, what if someone is so dependent on their TomTom that they forget how to read a map, and then when they drop their TomTom in the ocean halfway acrss the country they have no way to get home?! The possibilities are endless and also quite scary if you think about it. Eventually there will be no need for our vocal chords because there will be too many of those people that constantly text other people when they're with their friends and then nobody will even need to talk.

ReplyDeleteI do love technology and honestly i could not live without it. The only things that frusterate me are when the internets down or my cell service is, because then obviously i can['t do anything! I really do depend alot on trechnology. I think pretty soon the world will be controlled by robots! that would be pretty cool as long as it didnt' turn out like irobot!
Well...I just watched Iron Man 2 and the technology they put in the story was very scary. Crazy thing could be created with technology and if it gets in the wrong hands that technology could be very destructable. Right now technology for me in day to day life can become frusturating. It scary how much i can depend on things like computers or phones. Ever cars that we drive today are so technologically advanced what happens if something goes wrong. The normal person has no clue about how all this stuff works. Which means we can't fix it ourselves. Its silly to be so depepndent on other things and people.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that I like the most about our technology is everything. I like that I can listen to my music on my ipod, that I can play my ipod through my car speakers, and that I can play games on my ipod. I also like that I can record and pause tv so that it is convenient for my schedule. Sometimes, I love my phone, but sometimes I hate it. I think that I would get a lot more done without it. It frustrates me that technology can be so complicated.. And I think that it makes people lazy. I hope that in the future we don't turn into the people on Wall-E who are so dependent on technology they have no life. They just float around on their little machines and play on their computers. That would be tragic.
