Boo!

It's Halloween - my favorite holiday. What is your favorite holiday and why? For me, I love Halloween because of the candy. What other holiday do you get to dress up as whatever you want and then extort candy from people so that you won't play a trick on them?! It's the best!

  1. CHRISTMAS!!!
I love Christmas. I love how it isn't just a one-day holiday; it practically takes uup a quarter of the year. All the ice skating, hot cocoa, caroling, reindeer sweaters, presents, trees, decorations. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

But it is too close to halloween to focus on Christmas, so I will elaborate a little on why I love Halloween, too. I loved going trick-or-treating when I was younger. In the city I used to live in we would go out, fill up a whole pillowcase with candy, dump it out at home, then go out and fill it up again. I also really enjoyed our little Halloween party's at school, when we got to parade around in our costumes. I feel like we are at that awkward point in Halloween age. WHen we were little we celebrated it a lot, and when we go to college there will be more stuff for us to do, but right now it is sort of dull-ish, unless you happen to have something really fun planned. :)

  2. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving! I love the weather around this time of the year and the yummy food tops it all off! I go to my grandma's for Thanksgiving and she is an AMAZING cook. She makes ham, turkey, string bean casserole, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn,, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce(that's from a can):), and TONS of desert! When I know I'll be eating at Grandma's I don't each much for breakfast, that way I know I'll have enough room. You never leave hungry! This Thanksgiving is going to be a special one this year too because it's the first family holiday with my new 2nd cousin Evalynn! I am so excited to see her! :)

  3. I will agree with you Mrs. Myers, Halloween is a very fun holiday, but I would have to say my favorite is Christmas. I love the whole idea of it. I love decorating, baking, putting lights on the house, getting a Christmas tree, shopping, Etc. It's always such a busy time for my family. We are all working at the Tree Farm, always smelling of popcorn and hot chocolate, trying to find time to go shopping. It's awesome. I love the snow during the Christmas time. I can just see my house right now; decked out with Christmas decorations, the tree is shining and beautiful, the lights out on the deck are shining inside my window, my house is super clean and the smell of food sends a delicious aroma through the house. I think one of the reasons I love Christmas is because of my family. My brother, his fiancĂ© and my sister come home. We always go up to my grandma's and that is always super fun. I get to see all my cousins, not like I don't see them already, but it's always fun to see them all together! We fill our stomachs full of delicious food my grandma cooks. She's the best cook ever. And I of course love the holiday because it’s the birth of Christ. My family always goes to church together. Christmas has always been a very special time for me. I cannot remember one time where I have not had a good Christmas. I love it! :)

  4. Halloween would probably be my favorite holiday. It's really fun to dress up and pretend to be someone else. I have had some pretty awsome costumes in the past. I was a ninja, secret agent, Obi-wan, a devil, pirate, and lots of other cool stuff. Now that we do not go halloweening any more. I host a halloween party. It's lots of fun watching movies and eating good unhealthy food. However it does get really cold outside. I also enjoy hearing about all these weird sightings of things that come on the radio. Its a really "SWEET" time of year and i am very excited for it.

  5. First things first, Halloween is NOT a holiday. I look at it more of a tradition and a time for people to dress up and run around. I absolutely hate Halloween. My favorite holiday is Christmas, not because I get a lot of great gifts from my family members, but because I get to see them. My cousin and his girlfriend just had a kid and I haven't seen him since last May. I haven't heard from him and it makes me really sad. He always comes to Christmas at my grandma's house and I hope to see him there. I love seeing my family because each one of my family members are super funny. We have such a chemistry and everyone pokes fun at everyone. I love it. The endless laughter is the best part of Christmas to me. Plus my grandma is a fabulous cook and makes my favoites every year on Christmas. :)

Back to Halloween not being a real holiday. I'm sorry if you disagree with me but I just don't see how it is in a way a holiday. Maybe for children but not for adults. It gives adults, especially college students, an excuse to have parties and get drunk. I just disagree with this completely.

  6. I really like Thanksgiving and Christmas. My grandma is an amazing cook and I'm really looking forward to eating dinner with my dad and grandma. I especially LOVE Thanksgiving because gun hunting season is during that time. My dad got me a bolt action rifle for my birthday/Christmas present. (:

  7. My favorite holiday has to be Christmas. I just love waking up in the morning and seeing the smow on the ground and knowing that i have presents to open in the morning. When i was little i used to sit up all night and think about what i would get. Now i just love to see my faimlies reacting. Sarah is so funny becuase after every present she just smiles waiting for a picture and is just as excited for the next one. My baby cousins are just as fun to watch as well. It is just an amazing time. Holloween is fun to but it has kind of just feel out of my house since we do not go trick-or-treating anymore. It is still fun to pass out candy at friends houses though i love to see all the things the kids have dressed up as thing year.

  8. My favorite holiday is also Christmas. Its a great time to get together with all the family that I don't normally get to see. Most of the family on my dad's side of the family lives right around Menomonie except my aunt pam who lives in Phoenix. But with my mom's side of the family, everyone lives all over the place. My aunt lives with us, some of them live in Souix Falls, Chicago, the cities, and all over the place. So its cool to see all of them. I also can't complain about getting free stuff.

The food is awesome too! It's great to sit around the table with everybody and hear everyone's stories from the year. And everyone always makes the best food. It's also cool to see everyone's kids. On my dad's side of the family, all my cousins are older than me and already have kids and their all little so its cool to all of them running around after each other.

  9. I love Thanks giving! I would have said christmas but i will explain later. Thanks Givning is amazing! I love it becuase my whole family gets together, and we have a feast of incredible food. I usually get stuffed to the point of getting sick, then I wait 10 minutes and I go up for seconds. After eating, my family plays cards, the family card game is ulcer rummy! It's a Gust classic. Thanks giving is really about giving thanks and spending quality time with your family. I would have normally chosen Christmas becuase of the presents. Now, though, presents don't seem as important. Now I really care about just spending time with family, with no pressures of getting people gifts, which is why I chose Thanks Giving! :) plus...better FOOD than Christmas! :) :)

  10. My favorite TRADITION is Halloween.

As long as I can remember, I've enjoyed eerie, creepy things. Since my birthday is just before Halloween, I've made a happy connection with scary things. I come off as a little weird (I always have) because I love freaky stuff.

Anyways, I also love reminiscing the days of old. I remember going trick-or-treating with all my cousins in Eau Claire. It was a pretty big deal, and afterwards we would trade eachother for our favorite candies.

Now that I'm older, I enjoy other things about Halloween. I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to haunted houses. It's so thrilling. I also love seeing all the little cute kiddies in costumes. Everyone can have fun wearing costumes, no matter what age. I always think of what I wanna be for Halloween, but I never end up dressing up. The last time I dressed up was probably 7th grade & it was lame.

Oh and I like to steal people's candy when they bring it to school on Monday.

    MUAH HAHAHAHAHAAAWW!

  11. I completely agree with Sierra. Christmas!!!
It's the greatest. I love the feeling of Christmas most of all. The lights and the music and the snow and everything about it is just fantastic. I don't care about the presents or anything, but the one thing about Christmas that I LOVE is all the Christmas movies and shows. My favorite is the Grinch (I can recite the whole thing) :) and I love Charlie Brown and Rudolph and I'm getting excited just thinking about it!
As for my least favorite holiday, I would have to say either Halloween or Valentines day. Halloween is just an excuse to eat candy and Valentines Day is just a made-up holiday that is meaningless! Anyway. The End.

  12. I’m not really sure what my all-time favorite holiday is. Out of all the holidays we celebrate, my favorites would have to be Christmas, Fourth of July, New Years, and Thanksgiving. In a nutshell, I like those holidays simply for the delicious food and because I get to spend time with my family. So … yeah.

As for Halloween, I’m not really into it anymore. When I was young, I used to get so excited to go out in the cold temperature in some random costume just to get a ton of candy. For the past few years I just stayed at home while my younger siblings (for the past few years it’s just been my little sister) went out to fetch candy. Being that my parents are still milking the cows, I get the privilege to look through the candy and make sure it is ‘safe’ to eat. I really enjoy doing that! ;)

  13. My favorite holiday is thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday because it is during deer hunting. Which is a two week long holiday. I also like it because it is starting to get cold out which is amazing. I also like it because it is close to my birthday.

  14. I love all holidays! My best memories always were on the 4th of July! My family always had a mega-reunion and EVERYBODY in the family came home from all over the U.S. It was summer so I never had to worry about school and I just got to hang out with my cool cousins for a long time. I still love the 4th of July even though we don't have the reunions anymore just because I will always remember the great times I had as a child. I still get really really excited when its the 4th of July even though now its really not that exciting.
Christmas is great because it lasts a whole season! :)

  15. I would have to say Christmas is my favorite holiday because of all the food my mom makes! If anyone here has had any of her food they know what I am talking about. Everything is just amazing and I honestly get more excited about the breakfast on Christmas morning than I do about the presents. The presents don't get me anymore. She only makes food like that a few times a year, but when she does I pig out!

  16. Ugh, once again I hate favorites. There is no way I could ever choose. I will have to say that I love Christmas. I love the weather and having a tree indoors. I love waking up with the tree all lit up. Most of all, I love getting together with family. The only thing I dislike about Christmas is the corny decorations.
