What book are you reading right now? What do you like about it? What annoys you? Are you reading it for pleasure, or is it for your book review? Do you have any favorite authors?
Right now I'm reading "The Beet Queen" by Louise Erdrich. I really like the plot of the book. I thought I'd check it out from the library just for my book review, but I'm actually really enjoying it. I'm almost finished with it, and I wish I had more time to read it without having to stop. I really don't like that it's written in different perspectives. A few of my favorite authors are Jodi Picoult, Stephen King, and Mary Higgins Clark.
Right now I just got done reading My Losing Season by Pat Conroy. The best part of the book is that it is about basketball, which I am really excited to start playing!! After reading the book nothing really annoyed me. Everything from how he described his love for the game of basketball to the way he writes. The whole book went smoothly and kept me hooked. This is the first book in a long time that has hooked me from beginning to end. My favorite author would have to be John Grisham. I read a couple of his books last year and loved each of them. My favorite of his books is Playing for Pizza.
I just finished reading Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, for a book review for social problems. I thought it was a good book, even though it was not really like the Dr.Jekyll and Mr.hyde in popular culture. I am tired of reading books for book reviews, because I feel like I can't enjoy them as much with a time limit on them, and I want to pick the books I read. I have some favorite authors, but I can't remember them all. I like these old sci-fi books by Kate Wilhelm. I also really like to read comic books. A lot. There are many other favorites of mine but it's too early in the morning to remember them all.
right now I am reading "the Prime of Jean Brodie" by Muriel Spark. I haven't read a ton of the book yet, so I don't know a ton about it. What I have read though really interests me. I am reading this book for my book report, not out of pure pleasure. I am not a book reader, I do not have a lot of free time in my life and when I do reading books isn't on the top of my list of things to do. I wish I did read more, and enjoy reading more, but it isn't. :( Though I think that reading all of these books this year could potentially spark an interest in reading, but who knows.
Right now I am trying to finish up Far from the Madding Crowd. I am starting to understand it a little better. It can get annoying at times because of the way they talk and Bathsheba can't choose a guy for the life of her! Oh well. My prediction is she's going to choose Gabriel Oak. Anyway, my favorite author of all times is Sarah Dessen. I love her books, even if they are sappy love stories, I love them! I like the way she writes a lot. Her books are the type of books I actually can't wait to start reading. I get really into them. My two favorite of hers is The Truth about Forever and Lock and Key. She's coming out with a new one in May and I am super excited!
Well I just finished Lie Down With Lions by Ken Follett. Nothing in the book really bugged me at all, but the author's tone totally changed throught the book which I thought was sort of weird. I really like the way Follett writes. He keeps his book very interesting. They are fairly easy to read, but aren't all dumbed down like some books.
This book is for my book review since I dont have time to read anyother books just for fun. But it is a good book. This book was written back in the eighties. I like his new books a lot better, but this one is still good. Follett is my favorite author mainly because of how keeps his books interesting throughout the whole story and the style that he writes in.
I'm reading the Chronicle of Narnia for my book reviews. They were all really good books, but when I had read them before I thought they had had more details. Oh well. I have a lot of books that I like and I like the authors too. There is Jodi Picoult, Richelle Mead, P.C. Cast, and so many others.
I just finished The Last Song. I was rading it for the heck of it becuase i wanted to read it before i watched the movie. I enjoyed the book not because of its writing or how it was writen but because of the story. I like books i can relate to on some levels. I have to like a book in order to read it otherwise i just am punishing myself reading it which is why i don't like spreading my reading styles. I loved how it was about love and loss and about real things. I love Sarah Dawson i think. I don't no if thats right the one who wrties about autistic children. Can you see why i relate to those books. Anyways when i was younger i was forced to read medical books and things for my sister so those things don't interest me much now. I love fantisy books becuase when i read them i feel like i'm taken to another world were anything can happen and i can see myself being there. Its an amazing feeling and its my problem. I can go through a book in a day or shorter becuase i won't put it down meaning it ends sooner than i'd like it to.
I just finished The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. It is by far one of the best books I have ever read. The way Adams writes is just awsome. He has so much humor in his stories that still flows and makes it a very, very good read. I have the complete set of this series, and even though I have not read all the other books, I already want to read the first one over again. Another reason I really liked this book, is because its all about exploring the universe, probabilities, and my favorite, the answer to Life. This book was one of those that keeps you reading no matter how late it is on a school night. I do not remember any point in this book where I was annoyed by anything, because it was just so interesting and funny. This book is going to be the one I use for the next book review. Adams is my new favorite author, but it is basically a tie betweet Adams, and Micheal Crichton. Micheal Crichton is an amazing author as well. His fictional stories are so good. They are also very intense. These to authors are very inspiring, and have made me create another goal for myself, which is to write my own book someday. For a while I could not find anything that appealed to me for reading. Then I read Prey, by Micheal Crichton, and I began finding all sorts of books that were amazing. Reading is so easy to do once you have a giant cozy chair, a warm beverage, a rainy day, and a book by your favorite author.
Well I chose a slightly smaller book, because I'm only reading it for my book review.
The best thing about it, is that Chapter 1 is litterally in the middle of the book - due to MANY introduction pages and information that doesn't matter.
I honestly haven't gotten very far though, so hopefully I finish it before Monday. Ha.
I don't like that the beginning is SLOW so hopefully it gets more interesting.
I am currently reading "I know this much is true" by Wally Lamb. It is a very good book, however it is super long. I do not mind though, I am almost done. The one thing I do not like is that it is a complete downer! I am reading it for my book reveiw after this book review. For this book review I read "A Seperate Peace" but I forgot the author. For my Social Problems book report I am reading the Great Gatsby. Yes yes I got the idea from the Catcher in the Rye. And after I read that I just got "All Quiet on the Western Front." I want to read that one becaue we watched the movie in Modern. The End.
I am reading The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. I sort of like it...it gets kind of boring though and I am honestly just reading it because I have to for the book report. As you know, reading is extremely boring for me. I think I find too much stimulation in all other activities that I do not want to sit and read because I lose motivation..why are we forced to read? Well I get why…education...but still I have a really tough time enjoying reading when I have all of this other stuff to do. I am just not a reading person at all so it gets really boring...it would be like forcing non-musicians to play a Beethoven song just because it will make you "smarter"..haha that didn't completely make sense..but you know what I mean. Not trying to be pessimistic about it, its just how i feel :) On the other hand, I am really glad that I will have all of this knowledge about books and literature as I know it will benefit me...kind of like learning a Beethoven song would benefit everyone.
I'm currently reading "The Bean Trees" by Barbara Kingsolver. The book doesn't bother me at all. I like it so far. I am not too incredibly far in to it but enough so that it grabbed my attention. For me to like a book I have to have my attention grabbed with in like the first three pages. I know that is probably not how I should decide if I like a book but that's how I am I suppose. :) Mr. Olson recommended this book to me because she thought I would like it and it turns out that she was right! :)
I really haven't had time to read this year yet. Over summer I read a bunch of books, but eventually I'll need to really read again. I have a couple of classics that I might read, but my sister always has good recommendations for me. Most of the time I like the books I read, or I just don't finish them. I'm terrible at favorites and could never choose. I like each book I've read for different reasons, although The Book Thief has been the best book I've read for awhile.
Am currently reading A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I really like how the story is developing (I’m only on Part II of the book, which has three parts) so far. It has a really facinating plot, but it is a little hard to follow what is going on as Burgess uses slang all the time throughout his story. It gets really annoying because you have to know what the slang means to understand what is happening. Nevertheless, it is really interesting learning what the slang means. The reason why I am reading the book is because I plan on doing it for one of my book reviews next quarter. I have several favorite authors, though I would have to say that my top two favorites are J. K. Rowling and Stephen King (obviously).
Right now I am reading a book by John Steinbeck called The Winter of Our Descent. I really have come to like the way he writes his books. His books seem to always have a sense of realness to them. I think I will continue to read his books throughout the year.
Right now I am reading The Hitchhikers Guid to the Galaxy. I like the book. It is a lot better than the movie it was made into. I like that the book is easy to read. It is also a shorter book, so that is nice too. I am reading it for my book review. I dont really have any favorite authors. I normally just read biographys.

I don't enjoy reading much.
I love the Harry Potter books, however. :D
