Colfax Tale

Create your own prologue to The Colfax Tales. You are about to go on a journey with at least three other travelers. You may go where you like with whomever you like.
1. You must include a description of at least three other travelers IN ADDITION to a description of yourself. Follow Chaucer’s format in that you describe not only the travelers’ physical appearance, but also their character.
2. Tell where you are going and why you are going there. How did you all come to travel together?

  1. There were four of us total counting myself.
The first was a girl named Abby. Her hair was
long and dark, her stature small, her nose was
freckled. She was a genious at heart, but she never said much. In fact, the only words I had
ever heard her speak were, "The fire lies under the ocean." Nobody knew what she meant. People traveled far and wide to ask for her advice.
The next traveler was girl named Brittany. She had very pale skin and exceedingly long arms. Her hair was the color of burnt olive oil and her left big toe was missing. She had a very special talent. She could swim underwater for eternity and never need to come up for air. The next traveler was a boy named Rouge. He had jet black hair and a lazy eye. He could take down anyone and anything in a battle. One time he killed an evil fire breathing dragon. He could also turn anything to stone just by breathing on it. And finally, the last traveler was myself. My name is not important, nor is my appearance. I will only tell you that I do not look like anything you've ever seen before. My only useful talent is my ability to tell time. I am no one special.

Our journey starts at the river. Brittany was swimming and Rouge was turning objects to stone and throwing them at her. Abby was just walking along breathing deeply and blinking every half minute. We are headed to the bottom of the rainbow to search for gold. There was an advertisement in the Colfax Messanger about this rainbow of gold. It asked anyone who was interested to meet by the river at midnight on the 2nd of December. So here we are, and here we go. I personally do not beleive this, but since I can tell time, I showed up at midnight, per the instructions of the advertisement. The rest of the group arrived there quite by accident.

  2. Mckee was a fellow so burly and strong,
he knew nothing of what was to come
    he was always wrong.
He traveled through the fields upon a dragon of fire,
He was on his way to meet the handsome squire.
There we met in the middle of the field,
'Raise your sword dear lassie or forever clench your sheild!'
He was a ruthless man but together we traveled,
    and after our journey
    together we marveled,
at the possibility of what could come,
if we ever reached our shining hope
    Our glorious kingdom.

Simona was a maiden with locks of auburn,
she was a beautiful girl adorned in praise
and had the face of her father.
She wore a dress of organza and silk,
never once was she required to milk,
    The cows around the village
Or live in a hole of filth.
A privileged miss she was to the rest,
    She was the towns finest,
    A sheer goddess at best.

    Together we all were searching
For a piece of our haven,
To bring back to the king
To keep secret from the raven.
    Someday we will find it
    and that may be all,
It takes for a group like us
Coming from a village so small.
And if we shall fail in pursuit
    Or perish along the trail,
    Know that we were searching
    For the beginning chapter
    of the Colfax Tales.

  3. I had just started on my long Journey through the forest when I encountered three other travelers, all headed in the same direction.
The first was a tall man, with dark locks of hair and dark blue eyes. He went my the name of Viktor, and was known for his mysterious nature. He rarely expressed his opinion and spoke only of the task at hand.
The next was Allia, a blond female, with a slight build. She wore a simple dress made of white linen. Her appearance did not reflect her personality, which was described by most people as fiery-tempered.
The third traveler was Sven, who also had blond hair. He was built like a lumberjack, with strong arms and thick skin. Though his appearance was fine, he was overconfident and many a time has set himself up for failure.
I shall describe myself as well, to make it clear what our band of travelers looks like together. I have brown hair and hazel eyes. My personality is fairly calm and I was the navigator of the group, deciding the direction we would travel.
We were headed towards the northern lights, following the stars, and the moss on the trees. After many long months we at last reached our destination. We found a little cabin and stayed there for 20 days, recording our observations, then ventured home with our reports.

  4. There was said to be a great treaure in a far off land that only the bearer of a specific map could find. I had happened to come across this map in a game of chance and was planning a journey to retreive this treasure.I was a lonely guy. I had never really had many friends, but I was always looking for a way to help others. I figured this treasure would be the perfect way to help all the poor in my land to have better lives and live cheerfully. I created posters to let people know I was looking for some help on this trip. Many responded, but I narrowed it down to three specific characters.
The first man came from a far off land, and spoke in a strange dialect. He went by the name of Weston. He was built very sturdy, and had long black hair tied in a ponytail. His eyes were green, but he had injured one of them so wore a patch over it. He wore dark colored clothing and carried with him many weapons of different shapes and sizes. Weston was to be the hunter and protector of our group on this journey if it turned out to be more trechourous then expected.
The next man was short and stocky and had a small curly mustache. His name was Fransua. He was a master chef, and an expert on the outdoors. He could create a delicious dish out of almost anything and identify the smallest of insects. He wore fancy types of clothes so you hardly expected him to he so into nature.
Our final fellow traveler, was a young man by the name of Cristopher. He was about five and a half feet tall, but an expert pickpoket, and could sneak attack anyone from almost any angle. He had bright blue eyes and dark brown hair. He wore black clothes that allowed him to be invisible in the darkness of night.
We were the most prepared group you had ever seen and we were ready for anything that was come our way. We would seak out this great treasure and free all those from poverty and spread joy throughout the land.

  5. This is an epic journey of love. There is rumor of a royal bachelor in the near city. This bachelor is looking for love, and whoeveer he choses will recieve the famous fortune of the family. This journey is difficult, there are steep mountains, deep rivers, and quick sand pits. The terrain is not the only thing to worry about, it's what is creeps in the wilderness that keeps people from making this trip. It is impossible for one lonesome person to travel alone, which is why I am taking 3 other girls with me.

The first girl is shy and timid. Her name is Janine. She uses pins to hold up her long brunette hair. She sits taller than all of us, though she is so frail that she looks like a tree limb. She seldom speaks, when she does it is usually to point us in the right direction. See she has been through this journey before, except she was left to die on the last section of the journey, which we think is why she is frial and shy.

The next is very different from the first, her name is helga and she is tough. This woman is, alot of times, mistaken for a man. She had broad shoulders and a small bust. She has a deep raspy voice. Not only does she speak like a man, she walso dresses as a man does. The reason fro this is not that she is poor and can't afford womens clothing, it is just that woman's clothing does not fit her stature. She is one tough broad.

The next girl is my best friend Caprise. We do everything together therefore she is assisting me on my journey. Together we can accomplish anything. We are like peanut butter and jelly. She is tall, strong and smart. She is more lady-like than I am, though doesn't have mens appealing tastes. She is flat chested and has scars on her face and legs from working on the farm. Her and I were both raised on farms, so we aren't afraid of getting our hands dirty. She is fairly weathly, and has nice clothing, but hasn't found a man interested in her.

Lastly there is me, my name is Innejj. I am short and stirdy. I am known for my good looks and persistant attitude. I have had many men ask for my love, but I am posistive that the prince is the one, for I have met him long ago. We used to meet in a meadow and play untill it was dark. It all ended when his mother married the King and he then became prince after the King's son died.

Our adventure started at the base of the thick forest. Janine led the way. As we fallowed we heard many animal noises, but we lit torches and made a lot of noise to ward of any predators. The exhausting trip through the forest was accomplished within a couple days. Just exiting the forest is where we are left. Here I sit recording our dangerous journey on paper, so if we die there will be proof of our existance. Will we make it? I have no idea, we have a long time- consuming journey ahead of us. Anything could happen but we will pray for the best and never give up!

  6. There were four travelers in all on a small journey
En route to the village of Colfax for a yearly tourney.
‘Twas a sunny day when they met deep within the wood,
Walking at a steady pace like an exceptional man should.
They decided that they would travel in a small group,
Stopping occasionally for a little bowl of duck soup.

One of these four travelers was the tallest of them all,
A female who always wore her russet hair in a tight ball.
Overall she always was a splendid, kind woman to be around,
But she was not very bright at all and looked like a sick hound.
On her neck she wore a necklace with an enormous shell,
She greeted everyone and said her name was Annabelle.

With this gentle lady was a servant always by her side,
He was extremely rude to everyone and constantly lied.
We later discovered that this evil man’s name was Evander,
Anyone could tell his hair was slimier than that of a salamander.
What his history was no one (not even Annabelle) knew,
But we all could tell that his mind was quite askew.

In addition to these two was an elderly woman,
Who wished that she was traveling in a speedy Pullman.
Instead of helping us by lending a much needed hand,
All she would do is pull at her ratty, gray hair and stand.
It always was us three she was so quick to blame,
Which was why no one cared to know her name.

Last, but definitely not least, was no one else but me,
Who was the youngest and wisest of the group, you see.
Longing for a grand adventure, I was the one to lead the way,
It was such a difficult task with these people, I have to say.
Loopy they called me for only having a pair of clothes to wear,
What they did not know that I knew how to safely get them there.

  7. There were three young fellows, traveling alongside with me. We were headed to "The Golden Arches" to eat.

Marley was so swift and sweet. Her skin and face were ever so neat. She didn't talk much, in fact she was meek. She may come off as a stuck up brat, but once you get to know her you won 't think her of that. Her hair was black and her eyes brown. She was the looker of the whole town.

Cashmere was the typical friendly girl. Her hair was thick and golden like the sun. She could keep secrets and have a ton of fun. However, sometimes you wish the play hadn't begun. She gets a little to carried away with excitement and doesn't know when to stop. But that's alright when she's the friendliest girl in the world.

Trigger was a little beast. He thinks he's a baby but that's not the case. All he wants to do is play play play. His nose is giant and his eyes are black. He tracks down the littlest of the pack. Hunting is his game and he'll never let you down. He's a protector, at least that's what I found.

Me, well I'm just getting along. I usually hide behind my long dark hair. A smile exists on my face 24/7, as long as I have a friend then I'm in heaven. I love to joke, but I know when to be serious. It's a hard, cold world out there but I love a funny folk.
