If you were in charge of the school, what changes would you make? Be realistic - don't say: no morning classes, video games in every room, etc. because that's not real world. Think realistically and describe what you think school should be and how it should be run.
If I were in charge of the school every kid would supplied with a laptop, we would have computer desks and a ball to sit on instead of chairs to support good posture! :P Lunch would be much healthier. With a legit salad bar, and fruits like pears, apples, oranges, kiwis, bananas, and so on. The main course could be a choice between like 4 things. In the morning each kid would get a free breakfast, like a smoothie and fruit or granola bar. Two hours of the day would be spent with some sort of legit exercise and then girls would have seperate, more private shower stalls to clean up in, because kids are waaay too obese these days. Yep, that's some ideas! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I were in charge of the school, we would all have laptops and kindles so that we could get rid of books. We would have those standing desks that some offices are having. Lunch would be a lot better, and we would only have like five classes a day so that we could get more done. We would start at the same time and get done at two thirty. And anybody who isn't in a sport would have to take phy ed or weight training. The End.
ReplyDeleteyes I agree with kortney! Everybody would have their own laptop with wi-fi! If the school didn't want certain website to be viewable, then they could block them on the wi-fi server...if that is possible. It would be so nice to just be able to have your own laptop and not have to worry about getting a computer or going in the library etc... I also agree with getting better and more comfortable chairs. I personally would also like a larger locker! It would be nice to have the space of about two of the lockers we have now. I also agree with kortney's whole food plan thingy. AND students wouldn't have to pay to get into home basketball games(or football etc...)!!!
ReplyDeleteI would have school days go from seven in the morning to four thirty in the afternoon. Then I would eliminate every friday and have that day as the start of the weeknd day. This would save alot of money on gas and allow teachers to cover more work in a days worth. I would also allow students to listen to music if it is not destracting them. Lunch hours would be just a little bit longer, and in a buffet style. I would have many more types of classes so that all students had much more variety to choose from. I would also establish the roof of the school to be sort of an outdoor classroom for science based classes. And my schhol would be very green and would recycle all paper and use less energy by turning off all unused lights and using rain runoff as a source of energy.
ReplyDeleteI would allow cell phones. Just becuase i no kids use them anyways and them hiding it is just as distracting as them useing it. I would also allow Ipods in study halls because its not hurting anything and there not distracting to others. I would also have it ok to leave school for lunch as long as there back in time for there next class. Open campus would give the stydents the luxury to eat what they want not just the school lunch.I'd also extend time between classes. It is a rush to get from one side of the building to the other so at least 8 min would be good. There would also be a WiFi avaliable for students to use so they aren't limited to the schools computers. I also think we should switch over to the block system because ist would be nicer to only have 4 classes a day.
ReplyDeleteI don't really ever want to be in charge of a school, it doesn't interest me in the least bit, but if I have to make changes i would. I say that every senior class paints a big mural somewhere in the school(school related ex. viking ect...) to spice up our school and make it more interesting and add history!! I think that all doors should be unlocked untill 8:10, then they can lock it! I think we should have more variety for school breakfast, like toast, eggs bacon, pancakes ect. I would make a team room for both the girls and the boys, becuase its a load of crap that the boys get one and we don't! Ours is yellow and WAY too small for all girls sports to have at once!! I would make the dress up days more fun and less restricted...We have to face the facts that there is going to be a few people dressing as sluts no matter what theme we have!! we could have a pumpkin theme and people would find a way to make it slutty, its just the way it is, so we shouldn't have such strict limits! I would just want to add more color to our school, make it seem more interesting, and just try to stress and enhance school spirit, to make dress up days, and decorating hallways more fun, and create it to be more liked and competative!

If I were in charge of the school, classes would start at the same time they are now. The only difference would be that there would be four classes a day, so each class could be two hours long. Laptops would be provided for everyone, and we’d all have comfy chairs to sit in instead of the rock hard ones we have now. Lockers would be much bigger than they are now. We would also have open campus for lunch (which would be about an hour long). For those who decide to stick around the school for lunch, there would be a decent lunch menu for them with good food. I would also allow cell phones, iPods, etc. to be used during lunch. They could also be used during class if the student’s homework is done and they will not be a distraction to everyone else.
ReplyDeleteOh! And we would actually have walls that are all the same and aren't paper thin. That way we don't have to hear those outrageous kids in SeƱora Verdon's class when they are playing Whack 'Em!
All of the above.
ReplyDelete:)
But really, I agree with the laptops, the comfy chairs, the healthy food, the bigger lockers, and I most DEFINITELY agree with not having to pay to get into sport games. That's a bunch of bull! We go here, we shouldn't have to pay. I agree with Jenni on the locking of the doors. What's with that!? They should keep the one they have unlocked right now unlocked and the door to the senior hallway because we jam it anyway so there's no point. At least I think we doo...?? I don't know. I would also change the desks. Classes would have tables kind of like they do in college classes. I would also change if a kid is 18 years old and the parents sign a paper saying they can write their own notes, they will be able too. I want to write my own notes. It would be so much easier.
All i want is a nap time!!! and thats it!
ReplyDeleteI would change the school times, like Ben said. Also with the laptops and wi-fi, unlocking the doors, and open campus lunch time. I don't see the point of not allowing students to listen to music or go on their phones during lunchtime. It's pointless because people use their phones and listen to music during lunch anyway.
ReplyDeleteI would make the school have open campus. Lunch time would be an hour long, and we would be able to play outside at recess. After recess we would have a ten minute time slot, so we could calm down after playing outside. I would also allow 6 or seven minutes in between classes. I would get comfier chairs. A comfy chair would extend my attention span. When I'm sitting in a hard chair, all I can think about is how hard the chair is and how nice it would be to have a comfy one.
ReplyDeleteThe American school is really different from the Swedish school, but so far I like most of it, everything is still new to me. One thing I really miss is the real breaks between the classes, so if I would run Colfax high school I guess I would change that. At least 10 minutes, 15 are even better.
ReplyDeleteAfter just being in school for a week, that’s the only thing I feel that I would change right now.
Another thing that’s really different here is the schedule, here it’s so easy to learn it by head, in Sweden many students don’t learn their schedule in six months. That’s because our schedule are different every day, both the lessons and the times are changing day by day.
One thing I would change if I run my school at home is to get more activities in school! That’s one thing I really enjoy here, all the things that’s going on all the time. We don’t have any sports at all connected with school, which is boring and we don’t have anything like the homecoming or the winter carnival.
Different countries should learn from each other!

I would love it if we had open campus. It would be so nice to be able to go out and have other options for lunch besides the school stuff. Also, I would make it so we could listen to ipods and stuff when we are in study hall or just working on homework. Being able to text in study hall would be nice too. We would take all our notes on laptops and have a lot more freedom to do what we want.
ReplyDeleteSince school hours are so lengthy, we deserve to have off-campus lunch. We can go out to eat with friends or family, and just get a BREAK. I turn into a zombie at school and I get to the point where I just can't take it anymore. Plus I would actually be able to eat REAL and healthy food during the day instead of packing quick food, like granola bars and PBJ sandwiches. It gets really old, really fast.
ReplyDeleteDue to the technology advancement, of course we should have laptops for school. No more notebooks, no more books. No more wasted paper.
And the high school doors would be unlocked! It's seriously bogus that they're locked. Yeah, I understand that our school wants to be "cautious" for any intruders, but I'm pretty sure that we let ANYONE inside those doors if they're standing outside. And if someone wanted to get into the school, they're obviously not going to check ONE door and give up. They're gonna check the other unlocked doors, duh. It's so annoying for students who have to park in the senior parking lot and walk ALL the way around the school to the unlocked doors when there's fricken doors RIGHT there! I'm not against walking, but it's a little too cold for students to be walking outside. Plus, I know I always have so much crap to drag to and fro school, and it's not comfortable to carry all that load.
I would also add gymnastics. My life would be different and I would have been in gymnastics.
Obviously it's stupid and not fair that our school doesn't have early dismissal like other schools. I think they have it once a month?
AND I would totally redo the school's look. It's so blah. Some other schools have awesome artwork and the hallways have HUGE windows that let in NATURAL light.
I would definitely make a nap time right after lunch. Like for a solid half an hour. I believe I could function so much better if we had this. I would change the fact that we cannot go off school grounds during lunch. I believe we should have the right after reaching a certain grade or age. Otherwise, I would keep a lot of the stuff the same.
