Using the senses (taste, touch, see, hear, smell), describe sitting at the tables in the school cafeteria on a day when the cooks are serving your most/least favorite meal.
When fish sticks/fish sandwich is on the menu, it makes me gag just by the smell coming from the kitchen. The problem with the fish, is that it is Fishy fish and taste nasty. Because it is shaped into a stick/square patty you know for a fact that it is not real and is all processed fish. Most of the time, they dont cook it crispy, so it's soft and mushy. When fish sticks/sandwich is on the menu, everyone always complain, and people usually bring a lunch or get yogurt on those 'fishy' days.
I love Mondays because the hallways fill with the scents of fresh bread, around one o'clock. Bread is so delicious. We are lucky to have cooks that make homemade bread for us. When you look into the cooks kitchen you can see several loaves of bread all browned on the top. It's so tasty to eat and taste best right out of the oven with a little butter on it. When you feel the bread it is smooth and crispy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside.
Hot ham& cheese is my least favorite meal because it tends to be very bland. For this same reason, I do not hear much commentary on it, smell anything out of the ordinary, or taste much of anything. I see a lot of brown on that day. Sitting at the tables is a little more dismal than usual, since I know that I'll probably still be hungry at the end of lunch.
Stir Fry is my least favorite meal. It is gross. The vegetables are stringy and the mushrooms are floppy. The smell makes me gag when I walk past the lunch room fifth hour and see all the little kids eating it. The only thing that makes stir fry day better is the gooey uncrustables sandwich they give us with it :)
My favorite meal we have at school is french toast days! I LOVE FRENCH TOAST!!! When I'm in the lunch room, my nose is filled with the smell of syrup and apple sauce. Breakfast is my favorite type of food and any day we get breakfast food for lunch is a good day!
When I smell chicken noodle soup coming from the kitchen, I know it is going to be a good day! Normally by second hour, I am already hungry. By the time lunch is actually here, I am near death from waiting for this spectaular tasting meal. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it now. I hope I have a granola bar in my locker. I can not wait until chicken noodle soup lunch!
I walk through the school doors and I get a stinging in my eyes. The smell is so awful I could gag. Fish sandwiches for lunch, disgusting. Barf. I cannot even stand in the lunch room when they serve fish. The smell is awful so I assume the food is worse. I never tried it but I got a taste of the smell and it's just icky. Fish day is when I see the least amount of students in the lunch room. They all must hate those fish sandwiches as much as I do!
I hate hot ham and cheese days, although I don't even really eat school lunch. But when I did eat it, I hated hot ham and cheese days because the bottom bun always had the characteristics of a piece of wood. It also smelled like something really disappointing. The other part of it that was lame besides the disheartening main course was the side dishes. It was always just a salad, some pinapple crumbs, and little baked bean droppings. All the other days they have fruit or vegetables or peanut butter sandwiches, but on the lamest lunch day that ever existed, they fail to give any sort of last resort. That always confused me.
Lunch is my favorite hour of the day! The days we have sloppy joes I do not like to go into the cafeteria. They smell and look gross! I would have to say my favorite meal is french toast. I love walking past the lunch room and smelling syrup. I can not wait to eat on french toast days, like today! :)
I am going to be cotradictory, and say that I actually like the smell of the fish sandwiches. They are actually pretty good. Grilled cheese are not very good though, and being able to taste the tomato soup as we walk down the halls is pretty weird. The grilled cheese is very crunchy, and crumbles as you eat it. The only thing that makes it better is putting it in the soup to soften it up.
When I wake up in the morning and I hear my mom tell me we're having chicken patties on a bun, I get pumped for the day. When i start to smell them cooking them, I get even more pumped!! When I get in line and can see the chicken patties I get so unbelievably jacked! When I finally get mine and touch it, its all over because that means I'm about to eat. Then I eat it and taste deliciousness!!
One of my favorite meals for lunch is Au Gratin potatoes. Often times I can smell it down the hallway, just before lunch begins. It tastes just as good, although everyone has to wait a considerable amount of time before they dare attempt to eat it. The only thing I don't like about the Au Gratin potatoes, is how hot they are when I first get it. Short of that I enjoy the potato, cheese, and ham mix in the meal. I can tell when it is Au Gratin, because everyone is talking before they have taken their first bite!
My least favorite meal is hot ham and cheese. There is not any taste and the cheese is usually crusty around the edges. Have you felt the bun? Almost everytime I have one it is rock hard. By far the worst lunch because they serve beans and coleslaw with it and just about makes me sick. The smell of beans makes me not want to enter the cafeteria.
My least favorite meal is hot ham and cheese. You can smell the burning cheese all through the halls, not to mention it is super fake, rubbery cheese. The buns are so hard you can hardly take a bite out of it. Plus, they never even give you any other good foods to eat. Sadly, I skip lunch when it is hot ham and cheese.
As what most people have already said, my least favorite school lunch is hot ham and cheese. If you are lucky, you will only have one bun that is rock solid. The cheese is actually something that I have never really seen before. I would consider it more of a rubber than a food... which is unfortunate. Although I usually never eat school lunch, I make sure to avoid the lunch room on hot ham and cheese days especially.
A lunch meal the school should NEVER have...Fish Sandwich.. You can smell the fish the instant you come to school. It doesn't even smell like something you could eat. The smell makes the whole school cringe and you can smell it from a mile away. I don't even know how someone would be hungry after smelling the nastiness of the fish. Who serves fish that is shaped like fish? That's just weird and gross. Lets just throw some fish sticks that are shaped like fish on a tortilla and it's now a fish sandwich. Awesome. So overall this lunch is by far the most disgusting meal served all year and it should really be taken off the menu.
