10-18

Ah, technology. Love it or hate it, it's here to stay. What impact does technology have on your life? Are you a technology freak and have to have to latest gadget, or are you like me and don't even have a cell phone? What piece of technology couldn't you live without? What aspects of technology do you hate? Discuss.

  1. As a general rule, I am a fan of technology. I love how accessible information has become. That is probably my favorite part of our technological advances. For example, MIT is putting almost all course lectures online. Anybody who is interested can basically take themselves through and MIT course, or a whole degree if they really want to. I guess I do not like how technology has, in a way, cheapened human communication. While we may communicate more, the quality has definitely fallen. The long, personal letters that I used to write and receive and the phone conversations in which I could actually hear a long-distance friend's voice are a lot more scarce now, replaced by brief facebook messages and texts.

  2. I like technology(when its working). I like how accessible information is, but I am pretty technologically dumb! I have a really old phone. I like texting people because it is so convenient, but it isn't as reliable. Technology frustrates me when it doesn't work! When you communicate via text/internet I feel there is a lot more confusion because you don't know the tone of voice a person said it in and you don't see their body language. Technology is changing this world and I don't know if it's good or bad!

  3. Technology has a impact on our every day lives. We are now even turning in homework to Edmodo on the internet using computers and laptops which is technology. I enjoy my cellphone very much. It has everything on it since it's a smartphone. I love Droids. I ]can't live without my car. That's my favorite technology. I am not a technology freak cause it controls peoples lives. It really does. That's why I hate technology... But yet it makes lives simplier.

  4. I am kind of attached to my phone and the internet is a convenient resource. I don't like that technology is abused in a certain way, as far as social networking goes, but really I don't have a problem with technology in general. It was bound to happen and this is just the start of a new era. I think the real problem is people who are using the technology. They don't know how to handle the privileges that technology provides because it was almost a shock to everyone. It is unknowingly really hard for society to adapt to such a sudden change.

  5. Technology has a huge impact in our lives. We use it in some form in almost all classes. I really enjoy working with technology, and am actually going to college for computer engineering. I dont always need to have the latedst gadgets, although my technologically challenged family would say I do. I just enjoy working with all of it. I really hate computer viruses and think that the people who make them need a big slap across the face.Thechnology is so much fun and such a big help to us.

  6. I really don't know what I would do without technology. I have the Iphone, and I relay on it for so many reasons- e-mail, facebook, texting, calling, games, alarm clock, camera, map quest, and many many other things. I also love the different cases you can get for it, I have five. I hate technology for the reason that you always wants the next new thing. Shelby always tells me "That phone of yours is the worst thing for you, you’re always on it!"

  7. Technology is both my best friend and my worst enemy. I would probably die without my cell phone and wouldnt know what to do without facebook. But other times, when my internet is slow, my program freezes up, or my phone refuses to let my type I feel like saying thats it! and plan on being amish or something. Which would never work I love my straightener and tv too much. :)

  8. Technology is a big part of my life. I am always on my cell phone or my ipod. Cell phones were the greatest thing ever invented, I think. Without cell phones we would not be able to communicate very fast. I would not consider myself a technology freak because I do not have to have the newest technology all the time. I hate that technology is constantly changing, where we are now with technology is perfect. We have a way to communicate, a way to listen to music, and a way to watch news and other shows. I think technology is great but it does not need to keep changing.

  9. Technology is a big part of my life through school. I depend on the computer to look up stuff for classes, check my grades, and sometimes for socail things. I am not a technology freak but I know how to work a computer. I do not sit and play with my cell phone or sit on the computer for hours at night though. I like how we can communicate with other people and check the update of certain things. I do not like however how it can crash and then we are left with nothing to use. Technology is a great thing but it does not always work the way we want/need it to.

  10. I have never used technology! Never! Its the most useless thing ever and I hate it. It has no impact at all on my life and it never will. All I do is read books usuing candle light. JKJK, I'd be nothing without my cell.

  11. I hate technology! I do not have a cell phone but I do have a zune (mp3) that I use all the time. I guess that would be the one thing I could not live without because I love music. Most of the time I want to take a sledgehammer to my laptop, I need to get a new one for sure! Technology is a good thing but it is just too frustrating!

  12. I most certainly am not a technology freak. A few years ago, I hardly used a computer or any digital device of any sort. However, my on-line classes have made me become quite fond of our computer. What really bothers me about technology, is that everything is going out of date. Even though a computer may have only been purchased a year ago, when it was new, it is already slow and out-of-date. Technology should be a pleasant privilege, but I do worry how dependent we are on all of the latest advances.

  13. I really like my cell phone but I think I'd be better off without it. Id get way more things done but Then I would most likely not be in connection with my friends as well. Also, I need my phone so I can blog every night. Me gusta queso.

  14. Technology is very big in my life. I use the computer every day for school reasons and usually again for facebook and email purposes. I cannot wait to get my own laptop. It is such a hassle trying to get your homework done when your little brother plays games on the computer for hours at a time and your mom never lets you use her computer. I use my cell phone pretty much 24/7. I do not use it in school, usually, but sincerely wish I could. I love my phone It has its bad days, but I would probably be lost without it. I wish I would leave it be more often because then I would get more stuff done, but I really do not see that happening.

  15. I tried going a week without my phone. It took me a weeks worth of constant texting to stop me from going insane. I think that's enough said.

  16. I love technology, but at the same time I don't. I wish at some times you could go way back how it used to and use the good ole telephone to talk to someone and that was the only way you could get ahold of them or else sending them letters through the mail. I think technology has helped us significantly, but it is going to far. It's making people even more lazy and takes away good things in relationships. For example, someone can post something on facebook and when you go to tell that person about it they already know because "they saw it on facebook." I am big into technology and do have most the latest things, although, at some points I wish I had none of it because it can be a real distraction and cause problems! I probably couldn't live without the internet. I spend a lot of my time on the internet whether it's just web browsing or doing research for homework. Overall, I love technology and what it's done for us, but I think we need to back off it for awhile.
