Yesterday we learned about Othello. In Othello, Shakespeare first coined the phrase "the green-eyed monster" to describe jealousy. Today that phrase is used all the time and now you will know how it originated. Today's journal: write a poem about jealousy. It can be about any aspect of jealousy -- how bad it is to be jealous, what it feels like to be jealous, watching someone make a fool of him/herself by being jealous, or you can write about being jealous of someone over someone/something.

I wish jealousy didn't exist
ReplyDeleteit just makes me want to make a fist.
It ruins so many great things,
it just really stings.
It's hard to describe the feeling
and its often hard to begin healing.
Jealousy will tear people apart.

And Johnny Depp is MINE!
Sometimes I am jealous of Mrs. Myers' english/writing skills. I really don't like writing poems and I'm not very creative when it comes to writing. Other than that, jealousy usually isn't a good thing and can cause fights if people let it get ahold of them.
