2-21

For some reason, blogger wasn't working earlier this morning. Anyway, obviously it is working now. Here's your prompt: write a poem about how you feel about today's snowfall. Be sure to use the senses and be descriptive!

  1. Finally
    Winter is here.
    The cold,
    I do not fear.
    I see the whiteness,
    Squinting in the brightness.
It's perfect for forts and snowballs
But unfortunately, I am stuck in school's halls.
    It fell without sound
And settled peacefully onto the ground.

  2. I wake up this morning and look out the window.
Everything is white with fresh snow.
The trees are covered and the hills in the distance are foggy with the falling snow.
When I step outside the snow crunches under my feet.
It is relatively warm outside with a soft breeze
that makes the falling snow kiss my face gently.
    All is quite and calm.
It is a very nice way to begin my day.

  3. Oh the sound at 5 in the morning
Of the obnoxious snow plow makes me want to scream
Oh how my head pounds as I have a headache
If I hear it one more time, out my ears will come steam.

The roads are covered; it's a winter wonderland,
    The perfect snowman making snow,
But for us drivers, it's sliding and slowing down,
    Being late or loosing control.

A piece of cardboard with a little coffee tin,
Sitting on the side of the street,
Do you ever think of the homeless
On days like this not so sweet?

We say were freezing so we go inside
The smell of hot chocolate is on our mind,
But for them it's bundle up with what they have
And out to get anything they can find.

    No shelter, sometimes no food,
It can't be easy just trying to get by
So the next time you say your freezing
    Just remember it's a lie.

  4. The weather man say it is going to snow
I listen and think he must be joking.
For it is February and we have not had any.
I don't want to start now
    None is plenty.
I wake up to see the whiteness.
Annoyance is how I begin to feel.
I just want summer to be here.
And the actual warmth to become real.
    Go away snow.
    You are unwanted now.
    We beg for summer
And to put away the snowplow.

  5. I lay awake
    Watching snowflakes
    Falling, falling
    Creating frozen lakes.

    Pitter patter
Landing on the snow blanketed ground
    Dancing as they fall
    Twirling, whirling, till it dissolves.

    Wind whistles
    Snow falls from tree limbs
    Falling, falling
    Making snow craters

I try to taste the fresh snow
Till it disappears on my tongue, oh woe!
Taking in the crisp cold air
My nose tingles with coldness’s care.

    Snow so beautiful and pure
My morning melts like the snow’s eve
    Slushy mess it may create
Winter’s weather just could not wait

  6. Winter.
    I was excited for it.
    Now it can leave.
    I an done with it.
    I want summer to come.
    No more shoveling.
    No more sweatshirts.

  7. I dislike snow,
I just want grass to grow.
I wish there was no winter seasons,
    because of many reasons.
    The snow is pretty,
    Especially in the city.
I'll miss the snow once it’s gone,
but can’t wait for a green lawn.

  8. The slippery roads make me hate snow,
    winter goes by so slow.
I just want to lay in bed
because the cold is something I really dread.
Snow looks pretty on the trees,
but I would rather see bees in the cool breeze.
Snow leaks into the whole in my shoe,
it makes my shoes not seem very new.

  10. I am sick of the snow
    It needs to go away
Its snowing again and I think "Whoa"
But at the end of the day
    The snow is really pretty
And when it goes away, it'll be a pity

  11. It's white
    It's bright
    It's fresh.
    It's the best.
    I enjoy the snow,
even if the temperature is low.
    The snow brings bad roads,
but who needs to drive and get towed.
Yay for snow, let's not say no.
    We want snow days!

  12. Look! It snows again,
see all the animals in their dens
Outside you see the world through a blurry lens
As we peer out with our sleepy heads
We see the snow fall again.
Perhaps it will be the last time
But it had to come in due time.
It won't be long before its gone
So we might as well let bygones be bygones.

  13. The newly fallen snow is depressing,
I somehow believed spring was almost here,
The puddles began forming and the grass was exposed,
I had no idea that more snow was very near.
Although I admire the white blanket caressing the earth,
I admire more the life blooming during spring,
So here I will wait in the midst of snow drifts,
To see what this cold season has yet to bring.

  14. I woke up to a blanket of white fluffy snow on the lawn,
Not exactly what I was expecting.
I thought the warmer sunny weather was here to stay,
    I guess I was wrong.
But March is almost here, and that can only mean one thing
Sunshine, flowers, and the beginning of Spring

    Snow snow snow
    There it goes down
    Down into my belly
