10-12

Imagine that you are five years old. Your mother has taken you grocery shopping with her. You're having a great time, walking beside the cart, looking at all the cool items that you want Mom to buy for you. All of a sudden, you look up and Mom is gone! Write this scene. What aisle are you in? What feelings are going through your head? What do you do? Do adults help you? Do you find her again? How?

  1. ...where did my mom go?? I'm in the fruit snack isle and all of a sudden I'm alone. I'm so scared. Did someone steal her? Does she not want me? Did she forget I was with her? I'm terrified of what happened so I start to cry. Someone from up the isle comes to help me and they take me to the front desk and they page my mom. 10 minutes later, I see my mom walking and I run up to her and give her a big hug. She tells me she walked away to go get bread down the next isle and when she came back I was gone. We were both terrified. And I'm glad I'm back with my mom!

  2. Walking through the toy aisle,i get distracted by a talking puppy. I stop to play with it for just a second and when I'm ready to move on, my mom is nowhere to be found! This is pit is formed in my stomach and I'm not sure what to do. What do I do? I walk calmly down the aisle so that I do not look lost. I do not want someone to take advantage and kidnap me. Slowly walking and peeking from aisle to aisle I finally come upon my mom and a wave of relief washed over me. I do not even think that she notices I was gone but that does not matter to me!

  3. My mom and I are walking in the food aisles. We pass some of the chocolate food, so I of course I had to go drool at them. When I am done looking at the delicious chocolate, I look up. Then my mom is gone. I'm pretty chill about it because I am pretty much a super hero. My senses start to tingle and I can sense that something is wrong. I go out in the parking lot and see a man dressed in sequins. He looks pretty suspicous to me so I follow him. While he is opening the van, I hit him in the back of the head. I'm so strong at five that i knocked him out. I look into the van to see my mom's dead body, along with the body of Jesus. I guess he only kills saints.

  5. Where is my mom? I'm in the freezer aisle, looking at all the delicious food and I have no idea where she went. I wish that I could find her. Did she leave me because she dose not want me any more? Did she find someone better? Will she ever want me back? I feel so alone even though there are several other people in the aisle with me. I start walking up and down the aisle that I'm in looking for her. Sadly I have no luck. Just as I'm about to lose all hope I find a person I know. It is one of my parents friends. He recognizes me and asks where my parents are. I say that my mom didn't want me anymore and that she has left me. He takes me and helps me find my mom. After looking for a long time we finally find my mother. Thanks to this nice man.

  6. This actually happens to me an awful lot...STILL. I am freaking out, frantically running around the grocery store looking for my mother. "Mooooooommm!" It seems everywhere I go, she had just left. I hear my name call over the speaker, "Sam Simonson to the front desk please, Sam Simonson." I'm 5 years old! How am I supposed to know where the front desk is!? Thankfully mother found me. Everything is better. :)

  7. So my mother and I are walking down the cracker aisle and I stop to look at them because I love my grains! So I start reading the nutrition facts on the box of Ritz crackers and I turn around reading how much glucose is in the crackers to her, and she is GONE! I do not know what to do! I really want these crackers and I have no money to pay for them. So this is what I do. I quickly climb on top of the shelves and jump from each aisle yelling and looking for her! I found her, dont worry! She was getting me strawberries.

  8. I was walking down the candy isle with my mom, when I got distracted by the Halloween candy. My mom kept walking when I hid in the shelf behind all the candy bags. I ripped them all open and started eating. My brother stayed with me also and kept telling me to stop eating the candy because it wasn't ours. I told him to shut up or I would shove him in a bag. I ate about 5 bags until I decided to stop. I then went out into the main isle of the store and started screaming and crying for my mom. A worker ran up to me and I told her I could'nt find my mom and that my brother was eating the stores candy, even though I told him to stop! The worker eventually found my mom and my brother got in trouble for eating all the candy. He's a fatty.

  9. I would start crying hysterically because she is all that I know in this store. The walls are so tall and I am surrounded by people that are not mom. I sprint down the isle and look from left to right but I still don't see her! I remember she said we need bread so I look for bread. When I get there she is still talking to me like I was there the whole time. She never noticed I was gone!

  10. I was walking down the aisle and I see the candy aisle so I start running towards it, without telling my mother. After what seemed like an hour my mom still wasn't there so I went up front and climbed up to the phone. I paged my mom and she came and found me. What she didn't know is that I had about ten pounds of candy in my stomachs now.

Shes not there ! I start sprinting around the store screaming mom. I get looks from random people naturally. Finally an employee tells me that I can page my mom ; I then run up to the front and my mom comes and gets me .

  13. I was in the hair dye ilse when suddenly I look up and see that my mother is missing. As a normal child I was scared at first but then I remember that she always tell me when I am lost to stay in one place she will find me. So that is what I do. I just sit there and wait. Of course I am freaking out becasue my mom has just left me in the middle of the store and she is nowere to be found. So I graba bow of hair dye and start looking at it. It's bring blue and I am thinking that I would really love to dye my hair that color, so i open the bow and start dying my hair. I know my mom won't be to happy with me but right now I don't really care she left me with a bunch of strangers so I am going to do this. I have to go wash the dye out when I see her. We getthe dye out and she apologizes for leaving me and buys a bottle of hair dye to dye my hair back to brown.

  14. When I was little and this happened, I was so scared and I couldn't say a word. I had been browsing in the book aisle and often I sat there for a good hour or two. Eventually, I started to wonder where my mom went and I sit and wait, but she doesn't come so I decide to walk around the Walmart looking for her. I keep walking and cover the entire store without seeing her. Now I really start to panic. I can't ask anybody for help because i'm too scared and trying not to cry. Suddenly, I hear my name on the intercom and relief floods through me. I run to the front of the store and find my mom. I really hated feeling like I was left behind and honestly sometimes i'm still scared I will be.

  15. I was in the frozen foods isle of a Walmart poking at the refrigerated fish with the heads still attached. I squished my finger into ones eye and shivered in disgust, I looked up to show my mom only to find that she had vanished. I called for her a few times and came to the conclusion that I was alone and lost. I knew she was in the store still so i decided to have some fun as while i was alone so I wandered over to the makeup and beauty section of the Walmart. Here is where I started my devilishly clever plan to draw in the attention of hordes of fine ladies. I began by pacing the isle calling for my mother in a fake soft and frightened voice. I could feel the eyes upon me, wondering where my mother had gone. I began to take short and sharp breaths with a sniffle at the end of each breath. This was the moment that my plan took full effect like a flesh eating virus picking away at their restrain to intervene. My innocence shone bright like a lighthouse in a dark moonless night drawing the attention of sweet honeys from all across the store. They crowded around me in a tight circle like I was some kind of celebrity. They all asked me the same question,"Where is your parents?" and my replay was always the same with, " I don't know" in the most sad but adorable voice possible. To change the subject i started complementing the woman on their appearances saying how pretty they all were. They all would follow my complements with the clique "hands together just under the chin while standing straight up making a awing noise". Completely blinded by my sweetness they had forgotten all about me being lost and they started throwing new questions at me. Each one would take a turn asking something and my replays where always quick, witty, and a little flirtatious. This went on for approximately a half hour in which time i'm sure mother had been franticly searching for me. I would have continued my conversion with the many fine ladies that had found me but i was abruptly stopped by the loud speaker over head asking shoppers if they had found me. The woman again remembered that i was lost and was probably the boy that the loud speaker was asking about. Since i had even them all such a great time they paraded me to the front of the store. They hoisted me on top of one of their shoulders while the rest danced around me call out," We found him". All turned heads as we passed and the guys watched enviously. Unfortunately the makeup isle wasn't very far from the front desk so the ride was short. I was lifted off my throne of woman and returned to mother. Before each left they complemented me to mother about how cute I was and gave me a pat on the head with a kiss on the cheek. My mother walked me to the car while asking me the whole way where I had gone. I was too busy to answer any questions because I was counting the stack of numbers that i had received. I knew I was much to young for these woman and nothing would come of it but a player has got to play so i stayed in contact with all of them. Even to this day i still talk to a few, sure it's a little different now since they are all in their late 30's and i'm in high school but we still hangout and reminisce of the day we meet.

  18. I turn around from looking at a giraffe poster only to find my mom is no longer near. "Yes!", I think, "I've finally gotten rid of her. Now I can finally ship myself off to Africa. But where do I get stamps for put on my box," I wonder. I ponder this dilema for some time until my mom comes back and finds me. "I guess Africa will have to wait."

  19. This actually happened to me once. I was quite young, and my mom and i were in Kyles market. I suppose it was called Kirkwoods IGA back then. Mom and i were shopping, and all of the sudden i was alone! I wandered the vast aisles for what seemed like hours. Finally a gave up and sat on the floor, planning my sad life as an orphan, when a lady came up to me and asked if i had checked for my mom at the checkout. The checkout! What an idea! i ran to the front of the store, and there she was. She didnt even notice I was gone...

  20. This as happened to me a few times. I guess that when I was a kid I liked to wander off. That moment of absolute panick when you can't find your mom, and the thought that she left you on purpose and didn't want you any more. I remember running to go hide in the clothes racks and hearing my name on the loudspeeker. This may have been the reason that my parents wanted a child leash :D
