What book are you reading right now? What do you like about it? What annoys you? Are you reading for pleasure, or is it for your book review? Do you have any favorite authors?
I am reading The Catcher in the Rye for English right now. I like that it isnt just a typical English book that is really boring and difficult to read. It really annoys me that Holden repeats himself so much though! I don't really have a favorite author, I just like any books that are interesting and that are an easy read.
I am currently reading "The Time Traveler's Wife". It is a really good book but there is one thing that I do not like about it. It skips around to different times of the man's life and sometimes it is confusing trying to remember where you are in time. Otherwise it has gotten me hooked already.
I am reading Michael Perry's Population 438 (that might not be the right number). It is for social problems because I have a book report due on thursday. I like it but it is kinda not the best. I don't mind reading it, I guess I don't know how to explain it.
I don't have time to read for pleasure. I am reading three books at one time and it sucks. I love reading but this year I absolutely hate it because I can't read what I want. I know you and Mr. Meade want us to like reading more but you guys are driving me away from reading. One of the books I'm reading right now is "Sense and Sibility". It's terrible. It's all these stupid women that want a husband. Boring.
Curently I am reading "Everything Is Illuminated". So far it is a reasonable book. I am not very far yet though. The only thing I do not like about it so far is the first chapter. In the first chapter he went over a bunch of nicknames for different people. The only reason I started reading this book was for the review.
I'm not really reading any book other than Catcher in the Rye right now and I don't really like it. It gets really annoying when Holden is talking about making time for the ladies and when he has time he blows them off. I like books by Sarah Dessen and find them easy to read and entertaining. I really wish we could read what ever book we wanted to for our book review, that would make it a lot easier!
Reading The Shining. This book will be living in the freezer for a while. It's not scary, but it has a good bit of creepiness with it. I don't think I'll have the guts to watch the movie. I enjoy how it's very believable all the interactions are (i.e. Jack losing his mind slowly). I was bothered slightly by how quickly things were tied up at the end of the book. Certain things could have been explained more or made more believable though. My biggest finding of this was Jack's losing his mind completely at the end. All of a sudden, he went from hearing voices like the rest of his family to getting drunk and talking to images in the past that easily convinced him to kill his wife and son.
I am reading The Help right now and I love it! It's much much better than my last book that just about bored me to death. Nothing in this book really annoys me right now. I really like the theme of the book and also how it really shows what times were like during slavery. Now I know Mrs. Myers hates Nicholas Sparks, but I am a sucker for romance books so I do like his books. I also love books that have fantasy like aspects to them. Such as The Hunger games, Harry Potter, and Twilight. Yes, I am a nerd.
Right now I am reading The Sun Also Rises. It is an easy read, but I don't always understand what is going on. I also just found out there is two books in one book and that upset me. I wish we didn't read the Catcher in the Rye in class because it is a good book and I would like to read it and do a report on it myself.
I am in the process of finding a book to read for my next book review. I want to read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I can't find it in the library. That makes me really sad because that's the book that I really want to read. My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks. Mrs. Myers hates him, though. So, I don't even waste my time reading it anymore. ;)
Right now I am reading "Last Flight out of Oz." It isn't on our book review list but I decided to read it anyway because I know one of the authors. It seems like a good book but I barely have time to read it between reading my College Prep English books, doing other homework, and applying to colleges.
Right now im reading Night. I like how it is pretty easy to understand and keep reading. It keeps me on the edge of my seat, always trying to guess whats going to happen now. One thing that I dont like is that the author jumps around from person to person without a good transition, Im reading it for the book review. I dont think that I have a favorite author.
I'm reading the second Lord of the Rings for fun, since I already did the first one for the previous book review. However, I do have a couple of the books on the list at home and just have to pick one. When it comes to books I want to absorb everything, which means that I like a lot of them. Anything with fantasy is great, but I do read realistic stories and non-fiction. As to a favorite author there are so many and if I had to pick it would probably be Laurie Halse Anderson.
I am currently reading "Catcher in the Rye" for English, "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" for advanced biology, and "Turn of a Screw" for the book review. I normally really enjoy reading but I feel that these book are a pain. If I wasn't reading them all at the same time I might actully like them but I'm not so I don't.
I am reading "Of Mice and Men."It is an okay book. I don't really understand why it is supposed to be a great American novel. It was definitely not written by my favorite author. To me,the book just seems like a less exciting version of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Im going to be honest I haven't started a book yet. In fact I haven't even found one. I probably should find something to read by the end of the week so i can get started and be done early.
Currently i am reading "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings". I have read it many times before, it is my favorite rainy day book. I picked it up multiple times over summer when the baby I watched took naps. However, most days I fell asleep reading it. I like it because it is the story of one person, and every chapter does not focus on a new character like other books. Those books confuse me like no other. This was my reason for temporarily giving up on "Pigs in Heaven."
Right now I am reading Winter of Discontent by John Steinbeck. I like the main character because he seems to be a guy that likes to joke around a lot and never takes anything to seriously. The book hasn't been exciting up to this point, but I know that it will turn out good if it is anything like the last book of his I read. I would say that I am read for pleasure because I mainly chose this book because I read one of his other books and I loved it. At this point my favorites are John Steinbeck and John Grisham.
Right now i am currently reading Catcher in the Rye(along with everyone else). The Other book i am reading i have very recently picked out from the senior reading section in the library. I am not sure of the title at this point in time.
Right now I am in the middle of a few books. The book I am reading for English is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I had tried to read this book in middle school but it was difficult. Now it is way easier to understand. For social problems i am reading the Secret Life Of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It is a pretty easy book and i really enjoy it. On my own time i am reading the Power Of One by Bryce Courtenay, It is about a young south african boy in the time of world war 2 and how he grows up. I am loving it.
I am reading Time Travelers Wife. I actually like it a lot, but at times it really skips around and takes time to get used to the different way that it is written. I am reading it for my book review. I do not have a favorite author and also do not have time to read a book for fun.
