10-25

You use your senses twenty-four hours a day. Smell, taste, hear, see, and feel come into play in everything that we do. I would like you to write a poem about your senses. You can make it about them (how you use them), or it can be a descriptive poem about something where you use your senses to describe an event or item.

  1. The smell is calming. I can smell the leaves falling, the water cooling off, and faint smells of chimney smoke fill my nose. It gives me the feeling of flying. The air around me is cold yet inviting. I can see the sun dancing off of the water. The waves are rippling off of the shore. The smell of a fall day is my favorite.

  2. I can almost taste the dampness of the air. Suddenly, both our hands lift into the air, prepared for battle. The morning mist slightly blurring my vision. The air was still for a moment, forcing a frangranceless standstill of time. I bring my hand down hard. With a sickening slap, it lands. I can feel the sting, but know that what had to be done was done. It was over, I shouldn't expect anything else like I had gotten before...(This isn't about beating a woman BTW...I had a dream last night that I was the first person to ever high five Jackie Chan...) OH! And another BTW...I'm not in sweats, I'm still talking too much, and I'm not looking pitiful today! :D

  3. I dont see anything. The power just went out, mom is looking for the candles and Jezz is in her room. I start to smell the candles burning for light as I'm laying my bed waiting for the lights to come back on. It's really warm and cozy in here I can feel my blankets around me and I just want to fall asleep. I can see my parents shadows is the kitchen but nothing more than that. My cookie dough pop tart sure tastes good.

  4. I hear a loud roaring all around me. The roaring is faint as I zone out and just look around. I see so many faces of all colors. Many shapes and sizes blur out as I look at my friends. I do not concentrate on the smells of anything. I feel the atmosphere around me, and it is tense as everyone is feeling that way. It is tense because there is pressure. You can almost taste the fear and determination on your tongue when you take a deep breath. Just relax..relax..relax..I hear this from my coach and it calms us. We go up to the line and run our race.

  5. The aroma is aluring,
    the time is occuring.
    It is time for sweets,
    all diets have cheats.
    You can feel the heat,
    as you wait to eat.
    It starts to brown,
    as golden as a crown.
    finally you hear the beep,
    so you take a peep.
    You take them out,
    And with no doubt
    They are delicious.

  6. I am taking my ACT on a dreary Saturday in October. I see a bunch of kids around me, wearing sweatpants, scrub clothes, and yawning. I hear a bunch of teenagers moaning and groaning about taking this test and coughing because it's allergy season. I smell nasty school smell as I walk into a classroom and the stench gets stronger. I touch the pencil and start my filling in the bubbles to my test. I have this nasty pre-test taste in my mouth. This is the day I am dreading...SATURDAY.

  7. I love storms. The gentle pat pat of the rain on the sidewalk makes me feel peaceful and homey. While the random bursts of booming thunder remind me that mother nature is not so forgiving. The damp air sticks to my skin like a wet blanket. Uncomfortable to breathe, the thick, humid air fills my throat. As I walk in the parking lot, I stomp in the puddles. The water jumps around me. I feel the water soaking through my boots trying to invade my toes. I love storms.

  8. The school is very stinky
it makes me want to cut off my pinky.
That would cause me a lot of pain
but at least I could still see the rain.
I can see graduation coming up ahead,
senioritis is really getting to my head.
I better get back to my senses,
I still got a lot of time left.
    The rain is really cold,
    it really tickles my toes.
I am going to stop writing,
so I can go do my things.

    Sun is shinning,
    It is so blinding.
    Your skin feels the heat,
    the water touches your feet.
    The day is crazy.
    Bugs go by like crazy.
    The water is so smooth,
    Your free to move.

    Later in the night,
    When there is no light,
    The crickets sing.
It has such a nice ring.
    The fire is a blazing,
    The flames are raising.
    You smell the burning wood,
    It smells oh so good.
    I'm looking forward to,
    when summer is due.

  10. As I go outside I see all the rain
All this cold weather will drive me insane
I hear a bird chirping up in a tree
I smile when I see it's staring at me
This weather for me is just way too cold
I feel as if I'm 90 years old
It makes me become very tired and dreary
But most of all it fills me with fury
I go back inside to get a warm drink
The taste of hot cocoa will be perfect I think
It smells do delicous and chocolately too
I hope this cold weather won't make you feel blue

  11. The sweet smell of rain
takes away all sorrow and pain.
The sound it makes on my rooftop
is the best mood pick up.
It is hard to see through it pouring
But I'd rather be awake seeing it, than sleeping and snoring.
The rain drops on my face
Take me away to a happier place.

  12. I've only seen the ocean a few times in my life, but every time I am enveloped in this feeling of complete calmness and joy. As you wade in it laps at your legs and you can smell the open, salty air. It's wonderful. Although, taking a mouthful isn't that pleasant tasting. It's all a bunch of seafoam and the view is amazing. You just the waves roll back and forth or better yet, let yourself get lost in the swells (not literally, that would be bad).

  13. Today at the Science Museum,
    All senses were used.
I smelled coffee by the gift shop,
I saw and heard many things in the giant theatre,
    and I tasted Andes mints.
It was a fun day and I learned a lot.

  14. I see things,
    I look at Bings
    I hear voices
    I never listen to choices
    I smell good
    better than you ever could
I write beautiful things when i touch paper
then you ruin it with your crying and water vapor

  15. This morning I heard a drip, drip, dripping sound
I leapt from my bed with a bound.
What i saw was quite a show,
lots of water dripping though my window.
I felt the window, discovered the leak
a drop splashed me as i took a peek.
It was cold, and quite wet
    and dirty, i bet.
Later I brushed my teeth, the mint was tasty.
Then i smelled breakfast, so i got hasty.

  16. I smell bread
    the sent hits my head.
    I look in the oven,
    and see fresh cooked bison.
    The oven's heat hits me
I can't wait to get this food in my belly.

the smell of rain as it approaches
it gives me chills as the thunder roars
next thing I see it starts to pour
you see the sky light up as the lightning flashes
