We'll finish with the end of Act V today. What are your final thoughts on Othello? Of all the Shakespeare you've read in your high school career (Romeo & Juliet, Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, Othello), which has been your favorite play and why? Let's have some discussion!
I think that I don't like othello at all! Too many people died for no reason and it kind of made me mad. I don't like how Othello let jelousy get the better of him when all he had to do was talk to Desdemona about the situation. Of all the Shakespeare plays I have read, I would have to say that Romeo and Juliet was my favorite. I liked this one the best because it was the easiest one to understand. I also liked it because I thought the love story behind it was really cute. The only part I didn't like about Romeo and Juliet was that at the end when they both died for eachother. I would have liked it a lot better if they could have both just lived happily ever after like in fairytales =).
So i totally agree with Jadra and really don't like Othello. I found it frusterated me very, very easily! I just don't see people acting like that in real life so i had a lot of "grrr" moments. My favorite Shakespeare play would also have to be Romeo aned Juliet. I just like the story behind it because believe it or not things happen like that everyday. Macbeth was also very good! Unlike Othello, Macbeth was more interesting and a lot easier to understand. :)
I liked Macbeth the Merchant of Venice most of all. Compared to Othello and Romeo and Juliet, they seemed to capture my attention best. There seems to me more of a story within Macbeth and the Merchant of Venice. There's more characters, and more action. Whereas Othello seems to drag on with the same people and same setting. Romeo and Juliet was okay, but at the time, the english was pretty hard to follow.
I dislike Shakespeare. Everyone dies and noone lives happily ever after. What kind of story is that? That is just dumb. I don't like to read about death and hate. Why can't we all just get along, and why couldn't have Shakespeare wrote about happy stuff. I would like him a lot better if he was such a debbie downer. Yes, always-happily-everafter might seem unrealistic, but so is everyone kicking eachothers buckets. fYeah Hadra! Fairytales all the way! ttfn ~Danielle
The play that I liked the most was the Merchant of Venice because it had more of a plot. Macbeth is also not so bad because its not as predictable as Romeo and Juliet and Othello. After reading the first act of Othello you have an idea of what will happen by the end of the play. The thing about Shakespeare that bothers me is that it seems as though his characters have no common sense which makes them seem not as realistic.
I liked Othello. I felt that the plot was interesting and it kept my attention. I think that it was a lot better than Macbeth, which I did not like at all. My favorite play by Shakespeare is Romeo and Juliet. I really like love stories. Even though it can be frustrating when everyone dies, I still like it.
Othello was a lot better than MacBeth because we could relate. My favorite play by Shakespeare would have to be the Merchants of Venice. I am happy that we are done with Shakespeare because I do not think that I could take anymore right now.
I have actually really enjoyed reading the play Othello; probably more than any other play we have read. I know, crazy isn't it? Most of that reason comesfrom the fact that I can follow along wthout having to ask what's going on; like in Macbeth.
Well.. I honestly don't even remember reading The Merchent of Venice. I thought that Romeo and Juliet was good, but it was boring to read since we already knew what was going to happen. Macbeth was decent, but I liked Othello the best. I actually understood what was going on without just depending on the teacher explaining it. But I also agree that fairytales are the best! We should read one of those next. :)
I think that I like Othello the best. I think that cheating and people getting so mad that they feel like killing IS realistic. It does happen a lot more than we think and a lot of it has to do with stupid rumors and bad people. I think that Shakespeare just makes everything ten times for dramatic, but that is what keeps it interesting. I think that I understood Othello the most and I felt like it was nice to be able to relate with some of the characters. I couldn't relate with Macbeth at all. I'm not royal or rich. I can relate to relationships and how things can change in a short period of time. ~Alexa
I liked Macbeth, I was interested to see how the witches' predictions were going to come true. Othello was alright, but I thought it was more difficult to follow along in Othello because of all the sneaky lies. Romeo and Juliet was pretty cool, and I liked it because they were closer to our age. All I remember about the Merchant of Venice is the skull in the box... I'd have to say Romeo and Juliet was the best.

ReplyDeleteI believe it's "Jealousy" jadra, not "jelousy"! :P
