What book are you reading right now? What do you like about it? What annoys you? Are you reading it for pleasure, or is it for your book review? Do you have any favorite authors/books?
I am actually not reading any book right now. I should probably start soon be wise we have our nex book review due soon. I am planning on reading the screwtape letters by C.S. Lewis. I really liked the book I did for my last book review. The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy was an interesting book with a crazy twist on perspectives.
I am reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I am not very far into it yet, but there is one thing that I for sure do not like about the book so far and that is, the font size is so small that you almost need a microscope to read it so it makes for a very slow read. The think I like about it though is that it is a love story. I really don't enjoy reading so I don't have a favorite author. If I had to pick a favorite author it would be Judy Blume or Junie B. Jones because they were short and sweet, but good! I wish I could still read their books. I have read some books that I really liked, but I can't think of the name of the book or author.
I am reading Freaky Green Eyes by Joyce Carol Oats. I am not too far into it right now but I enjoy reading it. I feel like it is a book I am getting into really easily. I like that it is an easy read and easy to understand. I hate reading things that I have to read over like five times just to understand it. I am not annoyed with the book yet and I really hope I do not become annoyed with it. Truthfully, I wish I had time to read for pleasure. I have no extra time to spend on a book that is not for anything. So yes, I am reading this book for my book review but I like this book so it is not bad. My favorite author is Jodi Picoult by far. Her books are amazing even though I have only read a few. I really wish we could read Jodi Picoult books for our book reviews, hint hint Mrs. Myers ;) My favorite one that I read by her was Handle With Care. It almost made me cry.
I am currently reading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy right now. It's a humorous story and I rather like it. The written style kind of annoys me but it is not a big deal. It's going to be an easy read for my book review. I do not really have a favorite author, but I love to read.
I am reading Population 485 by Michael Perry for Social Problems, and it is decent. My feelings on it are rather neutral. It isn't a bad book, but I probably wouldn't have chose to read it if it weren't for it being on the selected authors sheet. I do like the idea that it was written about an area in Wisconsin that is very near where I live, so I can relate to it that way. Barely.
I am reading Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire. I kind of like it. It is written well but is a very strange story. Realistic and made up aspects are presented side by side and you have to decide what is real and what is imaginary. It is kind of complicated and I am not sure if I will do my book review on it.For now it is just pleasure reading.
I am not reading a book right now. I read 4 books during the summer so I will not have to read until semester. I have all of my books read for my book reviews for the rest of the semester, which is really nice because senior year is STRESSFUL!
Right now I am actually not reading a book. I am happy about this blog because it reminded me that I need to start my new one for the book project coming up! I really like Nicholas Sparks books, even though most teachers say he's a really bad author.
I am reading The Call of the Wild by Jack London, and I love it so far. I LOVE dogs, so I believe this book was written just for me! I am only about a fourth of the way through it, and I just can not wait to finish it to find out what happens!
I am in the beginning of ready Little Bee. I do not remember who it is by at the moment. So far I like it but I really need to crack down and read some more. It is for the book review, but I have over half of the book left to read.
ahhhhhh, don't even get me started... I have a book report that is due this coming Monday in Social Problems, then I am also reading a book for my book project. SOOOMANYBOOKS.
I am currently reading Great Expectations and The Grapes of Wrath. They are both pretty fun to read but I am enjoying Great Expectations more. I just like its story line alot more than The Grapes of Wrath. I do not really have a favorite author but two of my favorite books are A Long Way Gone and Eat, Pray, Love.
The book that I am reading right now is Cannery Row by John Steinbeck. I do like some of the characters and the way the story is set. It seems that most of the people in the book are good in one way or another, but luck simply isn't on their side. What I do not like, is that the point of the book is not very clear to me. I am reading this book for my book review. Sometimes I read for pleasure, but when the school year starts that becomes an impossibility. I do have a favorite book, and the author is Wolfgang Langewiesche. The book is still educational because, even though it is well over sixty years old, no one has been able to write about the art of flying better than Langewiesche.
I am currently reading "The Sound and the Fury" by William Faulkner. It is quite confusing, to say the least. As I read, I am finding it necessary to reference reviews and plot summaries on the internet for clarification. Faulkner made the book intentionally confusing, as it is written in first-person/ stream of consciousness style and his characters suffer from things that make their thoughts seemingly incoherent, such as autism and severe depression. Although this book isn't easy to read, I am enjoying it. As long as I can reference other sources to figure out what's actually going on, the writing style adds a lot to the story, and the confusion makes it seem more vivid instead of detracting. I really love Chaim Potok, Catch 22, Jane Austen, J.K. Rowling, and the Elegance of the Hedgehog, among others.
