"Intelligence plus character--that is the goal of true education." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
What do you feel are the most important lessons that you learned in school? You can discuss both school curriculum (reading, adding) or character lessons (learning to share, etc.). Why are these your most important lessons? What do you think you've taught others? How do you plan on using these lessons in your life? (Obviously, we all have to read and use math; I'm talking more about the character lessons you've learned)

It is sad to think that we are almost done with school. School has taught me discipline because we have to sit in the classrooms and learn, but it definitely has paid off in the long run. We have learned to make friends. Communication has also had a great impact in our lives. All of these things that we have learned are going to help us in the future to live our lives interwined with others. We will always be using these lessons in life because it has made us become adults in a sense. I will miss everything about high school and it has taught us how to be humans. :(
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I learned in school is how to manage my time. With so many things going on, I had to learn to budget my time so that everything gets done. School definitely teaches discipline.
ReplyDeleteAlso, we spend all day nearly everyday with the same people. We have to learn to get along with all of them. There are people we like and don't like so well, but we have to learn to be polite and work well with everyone. The same is when we get jobs and have coworkers.
I have learned so many lessons in school. I have learned to get along with everyone even though you may not like that person, I have learned to manage my time wisely so I don't have any late work, and to participate effectively in the community. These are the most important lessons I have learned, because they have made me the person I am today. These lessons have made myself more work-effective, and a better all around person. I think that I have taught others to work hard, and to never give up when life may not be going your way. I plan on using my lessons learned to make new friends in college, and to become even more involved in the community and helping others in need.
ReplyDeleteI guess, like Rachael, I have learned to manage my time and to be ORGANIZED. I have learned to not procrastinate and to do all my work ahead of time. I have learned to work well with others and include those who aren't included. And, I have also learned to aviod situations that I don't want to be in. I have learn to be independent and responsible.

p.s. I learn a lot from riding the bus too.
Throughout my time at Colfax High School I've learned a few things.
ReplyDeleteIn class:
Work ethic, time management, determination, and helping others.
Outside of class:
To put others first, give people a hand, and have patience.
Overall, my time at Colfax High School has been educational socially, intellectually, and emotionally.
I feel like we learned lots of people skills in school. It's like a small community, with all types of people, and you have to get along with them and follow the rules otherwise you will get in trouble with the law enforcement (Mr. Dachel!). We have learned how to interact and connect with poeple, which will eventually help us once we leave this nice place and get thrown into the real world!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rachael in that school has helped me budget my time. Sort of. :) I know that sometimes I have to prioritize and do the most important things first.
I also think that being able to compose a research paper will be extremely valuable once we get to college. hehe.
I agree with Rachael and Danielle about time management. Being in school involves so many things. I have learned to juggle homework, sports, clubs, and fun events [like PROM! :)] so that I still have time to spend with my friends and family. I have also learned a lot about persevering through things that I don't like. I really, really don't like math, but I know that I need to learn it. I think time management and perseverance are two lessons that I will be using a lot in my life.
ReplyDeleteFor actual school subjects, I think that reading is super important. It's something that you need no matter what your job is.
Also, I think I've learned a lot from Forensics. It has taught me a lot about public speaking and how to speak in fron of a crowd.
The most important thing I feel that I have learned is how to walk in a straight, sophistcated line. I remember in first grade when Mrs. Jensen would have us line up and we would walk through the hallway trying hard not to make a sound. I feel that simple concept taught me a lot about hard work, determination, and the pride taken in the accomplishment of goals. I have enjoyed my time at Colfax High School spent in sports and being socially, academically involved.
ReplyDeleteA big thing I've learned in school is time management. There are always things to keep track of and work hard at. It's a big life lesson because there will always be deadlines and responsibilities. A big character lesson I've learned in school is working together with other people. This is an important lesson because it will be used in life forever. Highschool has prepared me for college and taught me how to figure things out for myself, but not be afraid to ask for help when I get stuck.
ReplyDeleteOther than the curricular knowledge Ive gained in school, I have learned countless (more important) life lessons. All throughout elementary school I learned the basics of good morals such as sharing, caring about others, and treating others the way I want to be treated. As I grew older, I learned a lot of valuable personal lessons to improve my own life, such as good time management, always exhibiting hard work, and finnishing tasks that I start even though there are times that I want to quit a lot of things I do. In the last five or so years of school, I've learned the most important lesson of all: that not everything is easy, but if you stick with and work hard at what you are doing you will be rewarded. This fact is probably the most important lesson I've learned because it applies to all aspects of life in general and I will use it everytime I get down or discouraged about anything in life.
ReplyDeleteI have learned alot about time management. Even though sometimes I might not be the best at it, but I always manage to get it done. With so much stuff going on in High School, it is important to have priorities and get your assignments done. A lot of my college prep classes have prepared me for college, because now I know I can get papers and assignments done in little time.
