"Life with a cat is in certain ways a one-sided proposition. Cats are not educable; humans are. Moreover, cats know this. If you're not willing to humor them, you might as well stick to dogs." -Terry Teachout

Well about five years ago we got a black and white cat on the same day that I got braces. We were at my grandparents' house in Minnesota and on the way we stopped to get gas and when my mother opened the door a little kitten jumped in the car. We couldn't just leave it sit there, so we got a cat.
ReplyDeleteAnother story about pets is that we got a chihuahua about three years ago. Everyone hears me talk about how crazy he is. He is supposed to be a pure bread chihuahua, but he is huge, so we think that he is part jack russell. His name is Peanut because he started out as the runt of the family. He definitely is my mom's dog because we can't get close to her or he will bite us. We can be sitting in the living room and Peanut will start growling at us from the other side of the room because we are too close to my mom. He is very defensive to her.
OH, I JUST THOUGHT OF A FUNNY STORY ABOUT MY CAT AT MY DAD'S HOUSE: I got a cat from my grandpa when I was still a baby. I had to feed it and take care of it like a baby. My mom did daycare in out house, so she had all of this clothes and diapers. So I would change my cat's diapers and dress her up like a baby with a baby bonnet. I would even stick her in the stroller and take her around the block. She hated it and I would get all scratched up, but she was my baby, so I took care of her.
My first pets that we had were a bunch of English Setters. They were my dad's. They were strictly for bird hunting. One of them had nine puppies once. Some of the puppies were fat, some were multicolor, and some were white. We trained our own dogs, and one time when the pups were about two months old, I took all nine of them out into the front yard and started running around them with the wing of a pheasant. They instantly attacked me and my brother Clint had to throw all of them off of me to make them stop biting me. I guess that you could say that they had a knack to hunting.
ReplyDeleteI've had two cats and two dogs within my life. Milo, my first cat, was the "Tomcat" of the neighborhood. Lady, my first dog, was a collie. A few years ago my mom ran across Mindy, our second cat. She was out and about for a walk when she found the little kitten. We brought her home, and she's been our cat ever since. Two years ago we bought our second dog Kenna, a golden retriever. All of our pets have always been outdoor pets. They sure have been good comrades over the years.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a dog named Dixie. I picked her out when I was a little kid. When I was little, I used to get on her back and ride her around the yard because I always wanted a horse and never got one. She was a really great pet, but she wasn't even a pet, she was a member of the family. A couple of years back, we had to put her to sleep.
ReplyDeleteNow I have a little dog named Sparticus. He is half shiztue and half poodle. He is kind of small, but probably the biggest baby ever. He doesn't like to go outside when it is cold and he usually sleeps in my bed and hogs the all the covers.
I love dogs, but am not a fan of cats. They are so yucky. I don't like how they arch their back and rub against my leg. It creeps me out.
Our first family pet was actually a goat. We had a goat that I still have no idea where he came from or why we had. It wasn't a farm animal because we didn't use it for any farming purposes. The next animal we got was Ranger. He was a black labrador and loved to run with us when we went on four wheeler rides. He was a great dog, but died of cancer at a young age. Our family was very sad. Now we have a cat that we received from Amanda's family. It was intially name Theodore, but we just call her Kitty.
ReplyDeleteI have one kitty and his name is Zorro. I love it, it always sleeps with me. It is orange and loves to play. I dont think my house would be the same without it! Sometimes he gets annoying and purrs really loud. I usually dont like cats, but my cat is deffintely an exception!
ReplyDeleteThe only pet I have ever had was my dog Cocoa. She died about two years ago. :( She was a really mellow dog and hardly ever barked. The one thing I will never forget about her was... Dad used to hit golf balls into the field and she would chase them and bring them back.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah and she used to chase squirrels off the deck when they were stealing the seed from the birds. It was fun to watch because the squirrels would literally fly off the deck when she would start to chase them.

Hm...well I would have to say the pet that I have had the most experiences with would be my cat Figaro. I got him when I was three years old, and I named him Figaro because I loved the movie Pinoccio and his kitty Figaro. Only a few years ago, we had to put him down. =( When I was little I was sometimes really mean to my cat, because I would pull on his tail and chase him behind the couch. Eventually when I got older I got to be a lot nicer to him, and he would come a cuddle with me when I was sleeping on the weekends. He always meowed at me when he wanted treats or food, and he would always like to sit on my shoulder and follow me everywhere. My favorite thing about him that I remember is that every year for Christmas on Christmas Day, I would wake up and come out of my bedroom door, and as soon as I would step out of my door he would dart across the house like a crazy cat. It was so cute, and he always loved Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMy first dog was Sadie. She was a cocker spaniel. I don't remember much about her except for the fact that she was extremely lazy and laid back. She reminds me of my brother. HA! I now have a dog named Spencer. He pees on everything. He won't let you pet him without growling. He is always running around the house. He has the most personality I have ever seen in a dog before. I love him none the less.

Lets talk about my new puppy Ellie. She is a very mellow dog, but she loves to chew on things. We allways are taking socks and paper away from her. Ellie sleeps with me at nite and one morning i woke up to find out she chewed on my brand new phone. I was so mad, but she of course looked at me with sad puppy dog eyes and licked my hand so i forgave her. I love puppies!!!
ReplyDeleteMy family has had many pets over the years ranging from ferrets, fish, cats, dogs, hampsters, frogs, even a pet wolf. But MY first pet was a ferret named Rosie. Some people are scared of them, but I don't know why. I got Rosie when I was 4, and we were besties :). She would crawl into the big pocket of my sweatshirts, and we even had a little leash so I could take her outside with me. In her cage she slept on a hammock, so I would take her cage outside were we had our hammock, and we could spend hours out there sleepin in our hammocks. Rosie was always with me, and one time my mom found me in my room with all of my toys all over the floor, and I was in my empty toy box sleeping with Rosie sleeping on my chest. Sadly I had to give her away when we moved to Wisconsin, because we got an appartment that did not allow pets.
ReplyDeleteI would get a new ferret anyday, no matter what people say about them, I think that they are great pets and companions.
I have a dog (half golden retriever, half hound mix) named Chloe. She gets too excited when there is company. Whenever somebody comes over, she runs around with something (anything she can find) in her mouth making weird groaning noises. She then tries really hard to get the new person to pet her. She's kind of a weird dog. When somebody's getting their snowpants out to go on a walk (this especially happens when David, Luke, or Casey are over) Chloe will attack the snowpants and start humping them. It's kind of disturbing since she is a female... and she is paid. Chloe is a normal dog when she is with our family, but all the pressure of being around new people makes her turn very werid.
ReplyDeleteI meant spayed when I said paid. My bad. They're really close.
ReplyDeleteI have always had cats at my house. My first cat was Fluffy. She was very fluffy and nice and she would sleep in my room. But then she died.
ReplyDeleteNow I have like ten cats. And I also have weird animals like a chinchilla, a potbellied pig, and four donkeys.
I have also had a few experiences with animals who are missing vital appendages. One time we had a stupid rooster who ran away from us when we tried to put him in the coop, so he stayed outside in the winter. Then his feet got frostbit and fell off. We named him Stubby. He died. I also have a rabbit whose ear was bit off by something before I got it. Her name is Uno. She didn't die. One other time we had a stray cat who didn't have much of a tail. I think we named it Bobcat. It's probably dead.
Right now I like my cat Sasha. She's very cute.
On our hobby farm we've always had one dog to protect the land :)Our dog Buster has been doing so since I was in kindergarten. Two summers ago, Andrea was at a friends house and they had just had puppies and were giving them away for free. My mom went to pick her up and back with her she brought andrea and a little puppy. He was a black lab and hound mix; he was adorable because his skin was too big for him still. My dad did not know what to think of him as well as Buster. For three days Buster didn't come down by the house, instead he layed up in the field with the horses. My dad didn't care for him at first either but the little puppy would follow him around, knowing he was the only one he had to convince to like him. It didn't take long for my dad to fall for the little puppy as well. We named him axel, my brothers idea. However, his nickname was Doofus because that's exactly how he looked. When he grew, he still had a long lanky body with baggy skin. Axel would run from our house to our neighbors, the Lees. The Lees had dogs and younger kids, so he would go play with them and then run over to our house for supper. When we would come home on the bus, he would be at the lees and when he saw the bus coming, he raced back home alongside the bus to greet us. Even though he was a great dog, he had his moments. He chewed everything. He chewed our garage door off, so we had to replace it. He chewed andrea's license plate off as well as her temp plates when we were in the process of waiting for new ones. My family now compares him to Marley from the book and movie "Marley and Me" Axel ended up getting a kind of tick disease, and we had to put him down because he was suffering too much. We all miss him very much!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had that many pets in my lifetime. When I was a baby we had a cat named Bootsie, but he grew into a big, mean tomcat. We had to trade him into a farm for a nice little kitten becasue Bootise was too rough to be an inside cat. That's how we got our second cat, Midnight. We had her until I was a sophomore. She was a really special cat becasue she weighed over 20lbs. :) She was huge! Also, she would play the piano whenever she was hungry. It was really cute. We also had a different kitten for a while. We found him one fall literally blowing in the leaves. He was really tiny and way to young to be away from his mom. We kept him all wrapped up under a heat lamp and fed him from an eye dropper until he was a strong and healthy kitty! We gave him away though because Midnight did not like him!
