10-25
You use your senses twenty-four hours a day. Smell, taste, hear, see, and touch come into play in everything that we do. I would like you to write a poem about senses. You can make it about them (how you use them) or it can be a descriptive poem about something else where you use your senses to describe this other item/event.

First thing in the morning the alarm goes off.
ReplyDeleteThe sense of hearing makes me aware and I can no longer loft.
Next I walk to the bathroom and take a shower,
for only the sense of seeing can get me there without a holler.
Turning on the shower and washing my hair is something to do
with only the sense of touch to guide me through.
While I am getting ready. I know my dad made breakfast.
Thanks to my sense of smell, I smell bacon at last.
I eat breakfast, ready for the day
thanks to taste I can really enjoy it today.
Without my five senses I don't know what'd I do,
for I wouldn't even be able to tie my own shoes.
I lay in my bed and feel the warm sheets
ReplyDeleteI see nothing for my eyes are closed.
I hear my alarm sounding and know I must rise
For the morning is here and the day must begin.
I stumble downstairs to take a shower
I feel the warm water beating down on me.
When I return to my room, my mouth waters for food
I go to the kitchen and smell bagels and morning coffee being brewed.
The taste of the bagel in my mouth is great
My five senses are something I really appreciate.
Today
ReplyDeleteI walk outside
Can smell the rain wanting to fall
Taste the crisp cool air
The cold air tickles my nose
See the leaves surrendered on the ground
Hear the leaves crunch as I walk around
Winter falls sooner than later
I touch the railing to my porch
Take my hand back as the frost creeps up my fingers.
I see the beauty of the dark morning
Oh sun please rise early
Today, is a dreary day.
My five senses let me appricate the good days.
My five senses let me know when a bad day can become a good one. :)
I hear the drumming of hooves on the dirt as she approaches the gate,
ReplyDeleteI see her face looking expectantly at me,hardly able to wait,
I feel her velvet nose when I stroke her as a greeting,
I smell the familiar scent of a dirty horse,a coat that was once gleaming,
I taste dirt on my lips after kissing her dusty face,
All the familiar things that I could never replace.
I wake up in a warm bed
ReplyDelete"I dont want to get up" says the voice in my head
I can smell yummy food as I rise
As I turn on the light I close my eyes
The light is bright
Oh how I wish it was still night
I go downstairs to eat
The taste of breakfast was so sweet
I put on my jacket because it is cold
The feeling of the wind is getting really old
This is my morning, I use all of my senses
I cant wait to get up tomorrow and do it all over again
Sight is my favorite sense
ReplyDeleteI use it to look at fences
and to watch my expenses.
Hearing is needed everyday
especially to hear blue jays.
Smell is good
and so is wood.
Touching my soft hair
my butt is touching my chair.
Taste is what I do to stew
There are many things that I take for granted,
ReplyDeleteLike waking up in the morning and feeling the warm sheets against my skin
I can smell the taste of breakfast brewing in the other room,
I can hear the sound of my kitten scratching to gain entrence,
These things are comforting me, whether i'm well aware
I wish I had the time to just sit and stare
At all the beautiful things around me,
Just take it all in
Because my senses don't lie,
and life is a miraculous thing.
Waking up in the morning
ReplyDeleteseeing the light peeking in behind my blinds
hearing the sounds of my family, already awake
feeling my cold toes sticking out of my blanket
smelling breakfast my mom is making
then...rolling over and going back to sleep
Roses are red,
ReplyDeleteI taste, smell, see, hear, and touch,
I had to get my car fixed,
because there was a problem with the clutch.
Outside the sky is grey,
ReplyDeletefog is rolling in from the lake.
The rain is tapping on the leaves,
moistening the sent of earth.
Thunder rolls in the distance,
a soft rumble.
The rain drops gently kiss my face,
cool and welcoming.
I can see colorful leaves falling from trees
ReplyDeleteI can smell sweet pumpkin pie
I can feel the bitter breeze upon my skin
I can hear leaves crunching from squirrels passing by
I can taste the delicious carmel apple as it gets stuck in my teeth
Oh the wonderful senses of fall!!
I can sense the crisp feeling in the air that tells me it's fall
ReplyDeleteI see the landscape changing as the leaves fall about all
And all the things considered wonderful in fall
I feel the wind as I stand over the creek and hope I will not fall
But without my senses
I could feel nothing at all
Fall is a great time of year
ReplyDeleteEspecially when it's time to hunt deer
Waking up early isn't fun
But when I drink my Hot Chocolate, I say "Yum"
My tree stand is usually really cold
But I sit and wait for a deer to be bold
Fall is fun, but after a while it gets old.
Roses are red
ReplyDeleteMy senses tell me that it's fall
All I care about right now is hunting
Besides that, I don't care at all
I hear my alarm sound
ReplyDeleteTo get me out of bed
As I get up to quickly
I bump my head
I see the bright sun
Rise outside my house
It is so quiet when it rises
Just like a mouse
I taste the warm pancakes
That my mother cooked
Now I grab my backpack
And I almost forgot my book
I hear the roar
ReplyDeleteand my skin tingles.
My eyes?
What can they do now, but run across the page
blinded to all else by the bright lights.
My ears will serve as guide,
Finely tuned as the downbeat falls
and my fingers fall onto the strings
touching the smooth metal and soft wood.
The concert has begun.
