I wish someone had told me...

  1. I wish someone had told me that there will come a day when memories begin to fade. I wish someone had told me that one day I will think about the past, and instead of vividly seeing the warm and familiar faces I once knew and loved I will struggle to recognize even my closest friends. It will be subtle at first; maybe I will incorrectly remember the color and pattern of the kitchen wallpaper, or the theme song to my favorite television show. But eventually I will begin to forget memories altogether. Entire pieces of my life will disappear. I wish someone had told me that one day I would wish I had taken pictures, written letters, and kept a journal. Is it too late to start?

  2. I wish someone would have told me earlier the importance of saving money, I wish someone would have told me not to worry about little things, because in the big run those things aren't life changing, I wish someone would have told me the importance of living in today, instead of constantly looking into the future, I wish someone would have told me that electronics will take you away from being in nature! These are things I am learning now that I wish someone would have told me earlier.

  3. I wish someone would have told me that its okay to fail if you tried your hardest. I wish someone would have told me to enjoy being a child because innocence is lost too soon. I wish someone would have told me to live in the moment, because we only live once, and someday we will miss today. I wish someone would have told me of all the hatred in the world, but also of all the love.

  4. I wish someone would have told me that I shouldn't grow up too fast. I tried so hard to be an adult and be responsible for myself. I tried so hard to take care of my sister. I tried so hard to be mature. I created a sense of security for myself. I spent so much time trying to be a grown-up that I lost much of my teenage-hood. I wish I hung out with my friends more often and had sleepovers. I wish I had done more stupid stuff and got in trouble. I wish I had made mistakes, because that means that I created memories. I wish someone had told me not to grow up so fast.

  6. I wish someone had told me that everything doesnt have to be perfect. I have always felt that I need to be the best at whatever I do, or people will be disapointed in me. I feel terrible whenever I dont do as good as people hope, and I feel like a disapointment, and I feel like going to my imaginary island where I can stay far away from everything...

  10. I wish someone told me how to use the subway station in new york correctly the first time!! I wish someone told me not to order the green enchiladas...i wish someone told me that my life would be awesome! to me, its not the question of whether or not someone told me all of the little things in life because more often than not, we get told those things that people listed, its whether or not we choose to listen.
